A stream and waterfalls splash through a rooftop garden, where resident ducks greet guests and a supervised outdoor pool is open all year; in winter, the garden sparkles with lights.

A skyhigh oasis!
Set on top of the station, complete with garden pond, ducks and pool, the Hilton Bonaventure is a great hotel. Quiet, spacious rooms, stunning bathroom and comfortable bed. Although not much around food wise in the immediate vicinity, its just a shortt walk to cafes and shopping a few blocks away. I highly recommend this hotel.
I took the bus from Boston to Montreal - a long trip but well worth it to see the fall colours and the beautiful scenery in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Underimpressed
This hotel is described as a high star full service hotel. In my opinon, the decor is dated and very drab, the restaurant did not have a large selection of food and was actually an extension of the bar. The carpet was old and stained everywhere. The hotel had an old, musty smell in the hallways. The furniture was old and the linens were clean but not luxury nor high thread count. There were very few and standard room amenities, i.e., toiletries and coffee selection.

Unique in Montreal
My husband and I chose this hotel for our recent trip to Montreal because of the photos of its garden and pool. We found that the beauty of the garden and pool exceeded our expectations. The garden (on the 11th or 12th floor of a skyscraper right in downtown Montreal) is unbelievable and winds its way around a central atrium and seems to be viewable from most - if not all - rooms. The heated pool is a pleasure to visit, as well. The only down side was the cost of breakfast and lunch, and the fact that only tapas was available for dinner. Happily, old Montreal is close by and the train stations wonderful restaurants are a few minutes away.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Visit the Gare Centrale (central train station) in Montreal to see its food court, which provides a wide selection of clean, inexpensive, and cozy options. "Dame Nature" is great for breakfast, and a nearby posh delicatessen counter has a range of delicious picnic options. The government-run wine and spirits chain "Saq" also has an outlet in the train station, so you can add a bottle of wine to that excellent bread and cheese you have already chosen.
