very nice location
This hotel is located just off the freeway, so it’s easy to access it. The hotel sign is parallel to the road, though, and is not neon, so it can be hard to see. The indoor pool is small but nice. The hotel provides a complimentary pass for a fitness gym down the road, which is wonderful, but it’s a little far if you are not driving. The gym is enormous, beautiful, and all the people there are very helpful. The complimentary continental breakfast includes some hot foods, muffins, yogurt, and lots of kinds of cereals. I was very pleased with both the breakfast and the coffees and hot chocolates and teas that are available all day and night long. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay there again.

Nice hotel
This hotel is consistent with Hampton hotels in general -- clean rooms, generous breakfast. As usual, the location is right off the freeway, but in Santa Cruz, you’re still close to town and the beach.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Take Highway 84 back to the Bay Area, if you’re heading to SFO. There are several county parks with beautiful hiking trails through the redwoods. Stop at Duarte’s Tavern in Pescadero for great artichoke soup and homemade pie. Off Highway 1, it’s worth a stop in the winter to watch the amazing elephant seals at Ano Nuevo Reserve.
