Very Nice and Excellent Location

Wonderfully located and extremely pleasant staff. Only drawbacks were room did not have a safe or alarm clock. These are just small nits and the overall experience was great. Couldn’t ask for a better location.

Great, comfortable family run hotel within close proximity to nearby attractions.

I felt very welcome upon check-in with prompt service. I requested an ironing board and one was brought within a minute. I had left my jacket on the plane with my cell phone in it so the lady at the desk provided me with their phone and number of the airline and yet she was busy with other customers. Also very good free continental breakfast. I would stay here again and again.

A great stay in Munich

My husband and I are in our early 30’s and stayed in Munich for 3 nights at the end of our 2 week European vacation this summer (August 2009). Could not have been happier with the value considering the low price we got through Expedia. Location was great, very close to the center of the city. Service, cleaniliness, size of the room were all up to our standards. The room was quite large and had two floor to ceiling windows facing the street that open up to let the breeze in. We were only on the second level so I was worried about noise, but street noise was at a minimum at night. The breakfast included in the cost of the room will satisfy the pickiest eater - a lot to choose from. Very nice restaurant/bar area, free internet, and an outdoor patio. Overall, a great place to stay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Highly recommend taking an afternoon to walk the Englischer Garten (English Garden). Beautiful paths and you’ll find one of the best outdoor beer gardens you’ve ever seen!

VERY NICE HOTEL 5 MINUTES FROM THE CENTER

The Exquisit hotel is a very nice hotel. The breakfast buffet every morning is gorgeous, and delicious. You get the train station and the Marienplatz by 10 minutes walking. The room was clean and nice, the amenities too. You have free internet (not common in most of Europe hotels) Staff of the hotel are very kind and allways give very good service. I will return to this hotel

simple perfection

A simple, small, elegant hotel on a relatively quiet street, within walking distance of the touristical center of town. The rooms were large and clean, and the staff were unfailingly helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is good, and though we didn’t use them due to weather, outdoor tables in a charming courtyard are available. We were very happy with our stay.

Great Hotel

We have made several trips in the past few years to europe and stayed in many hotels. This hotel was by far one of the best. The rooms were large by european standards. There were 5 people in our party. Two individuals had a room with two twin beds. This room was similar in size to a standard hotel room in the States. The other three individuals were in a suite type room. This included a living room, bedroom, entry way and two bathrooms (shower/double sink) & tolet/single sink). The breakfast was great. The wait staff was very willing to get whatever you needed (have any style eggs made, etc). This breakfast was vary close to what I would call an American style breakfast. The entire hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel itself very clean and cozy. You could tell they took pride in their hotel. This hotel was extremely close to the subway and a short walking distance to Marienplatz. As far as construction that was mentioned by other reviewers, there’s nothing the hotel can do if there’s construction going on. There’s always going to be construction going somewhere. That’s life! This shouldn’t take away for the hotel. We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Munich.

Traveler's tip

Spend alot of time Marienplatz, visit the Viktualiemarkt-great food, Hofbrauhaus - great experience, take an excursion to Neuschwnstein to see King Ludwig II fairly-tale castle.

Excellent Breakfast

Top notch hotel right on outer ring of old city (2min metro ride or 10min walk) but much less expensive than hotels inside circle. Half block to great Italian restaurant La Vecchia Masseria. Breakfast better than 5 star hotels. All around great value.

Expected better

One of the pluses of this hotel is that (as many claim), its location is indeed very good. However,if you are a first time guest here and wish to go sightseeing, it is difficult to get your bearings. Also, the underground or UBan trains, which I found most convenient, get some getting used to. My room itsef was ok and the bed comfortable, except that all the linen in the room and in the bathroom smelt of coocked beef (exactly the smell coming out of the kitchens). I found this trying but thought it best just to put up with it during my two night’s stay. My room price included an excellent breakfast. The first day was glorious, with a smiling very welcoming head-waiter. Unfortunately, the next morning I waited hours for a simple order of fried eggs and bacon. When I enquired, I was told that maybe the kitchen staff forgot! I thought this was really unprofessional. The main tourist sights in Munich are, of course, unique and it was good to have this hotel to come back to, no matter the shortcomings.

Far from Exquisit

While conveniently located a block from the Sendlinger Tor U-Bahn station, Hotel Exquisit felt more like a more garish version of a youth hostel. The room was a decent size, and once I figured out how to close the window, the noise from the surrounding restaurants was not much of a problem. However, the room did not have A/C, and the one fan it did have was broken. The room got a little too warm during the one July night I stayed there. Some of the lights did not turn on, and (though not really an issue) the TV did not work. The hotel was unwilling or unable to fix any of these problems. The staff was also woefully uninformed about the amount of time I would need to get to the airport, check in, go through security, and get to my gate to board...they suggested I leave the hotel an hour before my flight’s departure time. The rates are low, however, and since I was only looking for a place to overnight while in transit, it was bearable. I wouldn’t stay at Hotel Exquisit if I actually was in Munich longer.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

The hotel is close to a U-Bahn station that’s in turn a very short ride to Munich Central, where you can take the S-Bahn to the airport. It’s cheaper than staying at an airport hotel, if you lack an expense account. There are no business facilities except for one communal PC and printer for the whole hotel. Wireless access (T-Mobile Hot Spot) is very expensive, and nearby Internet cafes close relatively early (as German businesses tend to, compared to the U.S. at least).

The street noise is horrendous - don’t stay here!

I was (in theory) a fine, though not great, hotel. However, it was billed in Frommer’s as being located in a "quiet neighborhood". Nothing could be further from the truth. It is right off a main thoroughfare and directly across the street from a hotel that has a sidewalk cafe that seems to close up in the wee hours. Very loud! Windows had to be open because it was not air conditioned. If you stay here, stay in a room off the courtyard (1/2 of them are, but only smaller rooms) instead of on the street side. To make matters worse, there is MAJOR construction going on across the road - a multi-story hotel is either being built or going through major rehab. We were awakened both mornings at 6 a.m. by jackhammers that sounded like they were inside our room. Can I say anything good about this hotel? Yes, the breakfast buffet is fabulous - can’t beat it. And it’s less than a block away from the subway station.

Recommend

Service was great. There happened to be construction outside when we stayed there. We asked for and were given a room change with no problem. Location is great. Just 10 minutes walk to Rathaus and Marianplatz. You do have to walk through a not so nice area from the train station but otherwise, no problems. There is no air conditioning in rooms but we were provided with a couple of fans which were completely adequate.

Comfortable and well located

The hotel was well situated on the Munich-RING and a few steps away from the subway and tram. The Room was clean and roomy enough. The Buffet breakfast had a nice variety. Front desk attendants were always helpful and kind. On a 1 to 10 i would give it a 9. So if you appreciate smaller and cozier hotels i do recommend The HOTEL EXQUISIT.

Large Room, Good Location, Friendly Staff

I would highly recommed this hotel for several reasons: -large room by european standards that is fully functional -very friendly staff -excellent breakfast with outside garden eating area -u-bahn station a few feet from hotel, with one stop to center of town -convenient underground parking Drawbacks: -No AC in room (perhaps not in all rooms) -Difficult to drive to and from unless familiar with the roads.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

For 2-5 people in your traveling party, purchase the single day partner transit pass. Allows unlimited use of public transit within the center of town for 24 hours, up to 5 people. It’s basically the same cost (9 Euro) as two round trip tickets.

Great location, great staff, great breakfast in central Munich

My extended family and I couldn’t have asked for a better location or cozier hotel. Centrally located, with easy access to the U-Bahn, and easy walking distance to the Marienplatz. The rooms were large and clean (with standard US sized bathrooms) and the breakfast was terrific. Rooms that face the street might not be ideal for a light sleeper, so ask for a room that faces the tranquil inner courtyard to avoid street noise from the neighboring cafe. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The Italian restaurant next door was quite good as well.

Nice Surprise!

We stopped in Munich for only one night and only wanted a clean place to stay. This hotel turned out to be not only clean, but comfortable with a friendly, helpful staff and a great breakfast. The location was within walking distance to Hofbraeuhaus and other sights we had wanted to see during our short visit. We were sorry we hadn’t planned to stay longer and hope to return to Munich and Hotel Exquisit.

Great choice

Beautiful rooms, great breakfast, one block from public transportation and walking distance to Marienplatz. All the employees spoke some English.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

At the other end of Pettenkofferstrasse is a wonderful Italian restaurant, Trattoria Il Giardino. The eggplant parmigiana was divine.

Great hotel!

We really enjoyed our four-night stay during Oktoberfest at the Exquisit. It is in a great location for both old town and the festival grounds. The staff is very nice, and the breakfast is wonderful. Our room was nothing fancy, but was very clean and comfortable.

Lacks charm

It’s a 5-10 minute walk from the station in a neighborhood that lacks character. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to get to the center of the city. It feels much more like a business hotel. The interior of the hotel seems quite dark and dated, although it seemed clean. I was not impressed with the quality of service at the front desk when checking in and out, as well as when asking for information about restaurants, etc.

Definitely would stay here again

The reviews of Hotel Exquisit by other guests convinced me that was the place to stay. Now I am happy to add my review, which is equally positive! This is a delightful place, a 10-minute walk from the main train station and a 10-minute walk to Marienplatz, with U-Bahn and tram very close by. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the bed was comfortable...the bathroom had two sinks and was spacious. The breakfast buffet was everything other reviewers have mentioned - fabulous. The staff was knowledgeable and bent over backwards to be helpful. They clearly enjoy working at the hotel. We had a very early flight out of Munich for our departure. The staff called the airline, confirmed what time we should be at the airport, arranged a taxi, and had a nice continental breakfast ready for "just us" at 5 a.m.!

Traveler's tip on dining

There are 3 excellent restaurants an easy walk from Hotel Exquisit -- La Vecchia Masseria (Italian, obviously); Prinz Myshkin (vegetarian); Hackerhaus (Bavarian - literally next door to Prinz Myschkin). The hotel gave us a two-fer for Hackerhaus, too!

A great place

We were extremely happy with our stay at the Exquisit. The staff are really very helpful and welcoming, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was superb. The hotel is on a side street off Sendlinger Tor, and it is just a short walk to the U-Bahn station (one stop to Marienplatz or Hauptbahnhof) or the tram stop (just a few stops to the museum quarter).

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Just a short walk up Sendlinger Strasse (going toward sMarienplatz) is the Asamkirche, an astounding little baroque church. Also within walking distance is the Munich Stadmuseum.

Would stya there again.

We had requested a quiet room on a high floor and were given one on the lowest floor, right near the elevator and it faced the street. Not terribly noisey but it was a weekend. Breakfast is a real deal.
