Clean and good location, but nothing to write home about
The Ariston was centrally located to the Duomo and the more affordable shopping district, but not near any notable restaurants. Rooms are small, but relatively comfortable and very clean. Breakfast is plentiful, but not the best I had in Italy. Service was pretty good. Front desk was helpful in transportation matters, but not in restaurant recommendations.

Ariston Hotel is ok.
Upon arrival, the room I was given was very small. It had a double bed, but the bottom of the bed was only about a foot from the wall and I really didnt know where I was going to put my large suitcase and be able to open it. As luck would have it, the lights didnt work in the room and after they were fixed, I couldnt turn them off! Not a good way to sleep! So, I was given another room, much larger and nicer, on the front of the hotel. The only problem I had was that the tram cars ran directly in front of the hotel all day and nite long and it was very noisy. Happily I always carry ear-plugs. Hotel complimentary breakfast was fine and staff friendly. Hotel is only about a 10 minute walk to the Duomo, and there are lots of shops along the way.
Traveler's tip
Hotel Ariston is in a good location and you can walk almost everywhere from there. If you have an opportunity to see Da Vincis Last Supper, its about a 20 minute walk through a nice area.
