Good central location
The Grand Chancellor Christchurch is in a good central location. Call for directions first though, if you haven’t been to Christchurch because the streets take some getting used to. Overall a nice hotel at a good price in a beautiful part of the world.

It was alright
Location was fabulous, but the room wasn’t really up to par. From the lobby, the hotel looks quite fancy, and i’m sure on some floors it is, but the room I had booked via expedia was a little shabby. It was clean, and everything worked, but it definitely needed some maintenance (ie. painting, carpet cleaning, etc). However, for the rate I paid (excellent deal on expedia) I can’t complain too much :-)

PROFESSIONALLY RUN
Arrived weary & tired to a welcoming smile & no paperwork to register as a guest because I had booked via expedia This hotel is clean, well maintained & all staff friendly & invisibly efficient ie they seem to just pop-up just when you need them. Positioned perfectly in the hub of central Christchurch, but you cant hear the hustle & bustle of the main st below.

Forget the breakfast
We were given a room that was beyond any expectations. It was actually an apartment on the top floor of the Hotel with an amazing view of the city and the mountains. The only thing we didn’t like at all was breakfast. The coffee was tasteless and the choice of breads and fruits as well as honey or jams was ’cheap’ to say the least. Not the way you’d want to start your day which was partly our fault for not organizing to have our breakfast in the room since we had the use of a full kitchen which was also very, very clean. But as we had purchased an all-included offer and were only spending two nights we didn’t think we should have orgaized also for that

Accomodating
I arrived early (9 a.m.) at the hotel from an international flight. Not only did they check me in early, but gave me a corner room with a spectacular view of the city. Very friendly staff!

Very clean and centrally located hotel
This hotel is accessible to the tourist office, bus depot, and tourist bus departure area. It is a safe place and is walking distance to many restaurants and stores! The hotel is well-maintained with very respectful staff. The hotel rooms are cleaned and supplies are updated daily. The hotel has a working heater, air conditioner, refrigerator and television with remote control. Huge bathroom and closet space! Quiet rooms. The hotel has elevators and the hallways are maintained.

Hotel is strategically located so you will not need to spend money on taxis.
