Very nice overall

The hotel was very nice and very well kept. However when we inquired about renting mountain bikes as advertised in their literature we were told by the concierge that they’d have to find a third party vendor and get back to us. So we decided to jog instead and were given a map with various "trails." One turned out to be just running down and along the beach, which beach is extremely rocky. Another which was listed as 2 miles was definitely not more than a mile and the third was to run out the main road leading into the hotel and then along another road and through a neighboring suburb. Not nice. Golf course seemed to be totally empty though, so if you’re into golf, you might want to give that a shot. And the Spa was very good. And there was a strong smell of tar in the air every morning. They claimed it was due to natural tar being forced up from the earth under the ocean, however, I’ve also heard that there was an oil spill there some years ago, so maybe that’s it...

Bacara Hotel

This is a beautiful property. It has lush vegetation and is located on the water with a beach for walking. The staff has been expertly trained and are friendly and efficient. There is a challenging golf course adjacent to the property. We enjoyed the property so much that we did not spend time in Santa Barbara. Will definitely return.

The hotel provides family friendly activities that are a great deal of fun.
