Old School Charm

The hotel is older, but seemed to be properly maintained. The room was on the small side, and the sound proofing was not the best. We turned on the fan in the room for white noise and it worked very well. The hotel is very beautiful and we enjoyed our stay there thoroughly.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There are a lot of nice restaurants within walking distance. I can not remember the name of the brewery, but the wheat beer was excellent, as was the service and food.

Classic Beauty

Great older hotel with a luxury feel as soon as you enter. Rooms are not large, but clean and well-appointed. Restaurant is lovely to sit in with the huge palladian windows and food is great; however, a bit pricey. It’s a walking town, so just go out & cross the street for a much cheaper breakfast, especially if you have kids.

If you have kids, ask for a room that faces the "Star of Bethlehem". Cool for the kids to see out the window at night.

please address this problem

Lovely hotel - but we had a surly, disinterested front desk attendant. We almost walked away before we checked in. Too bad in such a nice place.

First stay at an Historic Hotel

If this hotel is an example of "Historic" hotels we probably won’t try another. The room was quite small compared to newer establishments. The bathroom was even smaller. Our shower head was supposed to save water but a shower took twice as long to remove soap and shampoo. No pressure! We could hear clothes hangers being shuffled in several rooms. Walls had little or no sound proofing. On a high note, the food was very good and the service was fantastic.

Traveler's tip on dining

Experiment..don’t be afraid to try something new. There are many unique eatery’s in Bethlehem.

A Treat in a Historical Hotel

The Hotel Bethlehem is not cheap, but it is worth the expense. Very high class and a treat. The restaurant is very good, but the Hotel is downtown in the center of good food. There are a lot of old Moravian sites within walking distance.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The center of Moravian culture in Pennsylvania. Many interesting buildings, museums, and cultural activities.

Bethlehem’s Best Hotel

The Hotel Bethlehem is back to the standard it maintained buring the heyday of Bethlehem Steel. And the food is better than it was then, Although the servers are not as professional as they were during the sixties and seventies, there is a young chef with some great ideas. don’t look for flat screen TV in your room, but do expect not to be able to hear your neighbors.

Would like to visit at Christmas time

I would like to return at Christmas time. The hotel was at the heart of Bethlehem.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Be sure to hear the Bach Choir of Bethlehem.

Always fun

I was raised in Bethlehem, and was a member at the Moravian Church across the street. At Christmas and Easter, I miss their unique services. It is always a treat to stay at the Hotel Bethlehem. Service is friendly, hotel is historic, so don’t expect steel and glass, but rather an older world charm. It is so handy just to go across the street for services, and a walk uptown is most enjoyable. Good food at the hotel or across or just up the street. Just love it.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

At Christmas and Easter, do join in the services. Take the tours offered, visit the original buildings down by the Monocacy Creek. All within walking distance, easy.

Great Location

Staff was extemely couteous and helpful. Hotel is in a great location in downtown Bethlehem. Room was small, but nice. Bed was comfortable, but could have used a more comfortable easy chair.

thermostat broken

Everything was fine except that the heat did not work in the room. As it was late, we did not try to get another room, but this made the room rather uncomfortable. We did have a nice view of the Star of Bethlehem, and the breakfast at the restaurant the next morning was delicious.

Charming Hotel

Lovely and Charming hotel in a wonderful location. Great staff. My only complaint would be that there wasn’t a safe in the room. I’d definitely stay there again though.

Wonderful, Old World Excellence

Do stay at Hotel Bethlehem to revel in the talent and craftsmanship of the Moravians, and experience culinary excellence at its best. Expect your room to be small, and expect to have trouble regulating temperature. All in all a wonderful experience!

Traveler's tip on dining

Try the gourmet restaurant for a magnificent meal! Enjoy long walks in town!

Fantastic Location/Helpful Staff

I had no problem at check-in and it was really quick. Room was nice and clean. Loved the live music that was played nightly. I had gotten lost on the way to the airport and they were extremely helpful, patient and seemed eager to help.

Not overly impressed

The location is great if you’re visiting Bethlehem, but when they say "historical" hotel, they mean ’needs some renovations’. On the negative side, the rooms are small, which isn’t unusual for an older hotel, and could use some updating. I missed not having a fridge or minibar in the room, the bedside clock couldn’t be read, and the hallway carpets could use a lot of help. The ice machine didn’t work on our floor and on the night before we checked out, someone got stuck in the elevator and the fire dept. had to come get them out. Also the on premises restaurants are a bit pricey. On the plus side, its a great location, it was clean and everyone was very nice. Great place for weddings and receptions.

Marvelous old hotel

This was a great place to stay. The rooms are up to date and have all the amenities. Service was good.

Traveler's tip

Open the window at night. It is a brick building and tends to hold the heat of the day. The A/C has trouble keeping up during the evening.

too hot

This is a beautiful old hotel, however, next time I will stay at a nearby best western because I can be assured they will have AC in all their rooms which are actually in working order. We were there in March and I was informed that the AC was switched off for the winter. She kindly offered to send someone up to open the windows. I opened them myself, the windows were open the entire day and the nights were still so warm we slept without any covers. This cancels out anything else good about the hotel.

don’t stay here if you would like a good nights sleep
