gracious service in a big city
Upon arriving I was greeted with a smile and escorted to my room and given a tour of the faclities. That does not happen too often in my travels.Since my French is a bit limited, I needed much help in getting about the city and the staff was more than ready to assist. The stay was pleasant and the back garden added a bit of calm either with tea in the afternoon or a drink during the evening. The staff was always ready to serve with grace and a small touch of elegance. 2 thumbs up!!

get a multiple day pass for the metro and bus lines. rent a bike or walk around the neighborhood near the hotel. The 17th is a nice walking district.

Great Neighborhood, great understanding hotel staff
The hotel is located in a business/apartment neighborhood; no tourism. There is a bar next to the hotel which sometimes will host a party so you may hear boom-boom-boom up to 5am. This happened my first day, I complained and the hotel staff moved me to the courtyard side. The staff is very courteous and understanding. The in-room air conditioning is modern, the bathrooms are modern(very clean), the internet wireless has strong signal(but low bandwidth). There was construction so you have to enter from the side but they only work from 8 to 5. Most of the construction was completed, up to painting upon my departure. Oh, the courtyard is great = quiet. Beer was not quite cold but you get to drink it alone in a private courtyard. I will come back when I have another Valeo meeting and I will stay here if I return with my family. The 17th Arr is now my sector: traffic is light, restaurants are filled with locals, minimal tourists, mostly business people. 16th is also nice but no place to eat.
Traveler's tip on dining
Brasserie Niel just about 2 blocks away is a great Tunisian cuisine restaurant with many locals. I actually sat next to some Parisians from Tunisia. (if that means anything, but sure beats sitting next to someone from Detroit informing me that this food is exquisite) The appetizers are just these small, tasty, spicy vegetables spread out on 10 plates; eat them fast before they clear the table. The main was couscous. The wine I copied from other tables was Bruilly; it was a marvelous dinner.

Wonderful Staff
The Regents Garden is a small boutique hotel in a residential district at the western end of Paris. It is not in the middle of a tourist area and there isnt a Starbucks anywhere near it. That is part of its charm. One can mix with the locals at the nearby grocery, bakery and various other shops. It is a short walk to the Arc de Triomphe and a Metro station. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel has a beautiful back garden and a gorgeous dining room, both of which have been recently renovated. Unfortunately, the remodel is ongoing, and depending on the room location, can be bothersome. The other negative is the restaurant/club next door. On some nights, the music is quite loud and goes on into the wee morning hours.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Unless youre in a rush, dont take the Metro. Walk, walk, walk. Youll experience Paris and burn off some of the calories from all the rich food youll be eating!
