Great place, old building
The Bahia Othon is in a great location close to the ocean, you see only the sea from your room. You can open the window at night and listen to the surf. It is great. But do not think this place is a cosy cabana in a remote island. It is a big building, one of this places which do not age well. Probably from the 80`s. But the breakfast buffet was outstanding,the people friendly and for one night the perfect place. But note: It takes a long 40min cab ride and costs 45 Dollar to get to the airport.

Would stay there again
Location just outside the bay makes beach areas more attractive. Ocean view from room was spectacular. Room quiet and comfortable, though all wood in room was distressed from ocean exposure. New flat panel TV’s were just installed and wide variety of choices in several languages including Fox news(an unexpected surprise). Easy access to bus route along ocean makes going to other beach areas very very simple and very cheap. Walking distance to good shopping mall in Barra. Many Brazilians run or walk up and down coast road so we did not feel out of place running for exercise.

Old hotel
Its a big hotel but old, and the maintenence its not too good, but the service of everybody front desk, room service and housekeeping was optimum
