Once in a lifetime experience
The Jai Mahal is a restored palace and the buidings and gardens are picturesque and serene. We had a ground floor room with French doors leading to a private area with table and chairs. The breakfast buffet had good choices of fresh fruit, pastries, English breakfast, omelette bar, and several hot Indian dishes. The menu for lunch and dinner had good international as well as Indian selections, and we enjoyed the Indian food so much we had it for all six meals there. There is outdoor seating available looking out over the gardens and the lighted domes on the hotel rooftop, with Indian musicians on the patio during dinner. The restaurant service was slow but very friendly and the staff throughout the rest of the hotel was helpful.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Only hotel cars are available at the front door, but if you walk to the end of the driveway you can easily catch a motorized rickshaw to take you into town and to the City Palace and Red Fort. Best way to see everything as they can slip into alleyways and weave between the various vehicles and animals on the road.

A Rajasthani Refuge
Except for the food, this hotel was fantastic. Excellent service and exceptional maintainance made this hotel a quiet refuge in the craziness of bustling Jaipur. Unfortunately, despite an extensive menu, the quality of the food in the breakfast room as well as the Italian restaurant left a lot to be desired.
