great hotel, a classic in Bali
It is somewhat old, but overall a great hotel. The staff is great. The only downpart is it doesn`t have a private beach, you have to cross the street to get to it. Otherwise I would recommend it to anyone.
The elephant-riding tour is great. All the temples are a must-see!

better than expected
Hard Rock Hotel is a largish complex directly across from Kuta Beach. Once you get past the hard rock theme (not my cup of tea) it’s actually a pretty good hotel. Good service, decent rooms, many facilities, good buffet breakfast, central location. For those who care, you may bring a guest to your room without hassle. One complaint: the bathroom has liquid soap dispensers; no bars of soap (bring your own or buy one next door at the convenience store). The hot water also is a little less than hot during peak usage hours.
