Good Time

Everything was really great. Food was good, drinks great, we were there in late oct, The place was about half full, we had the place to ourselfs. my only problem was no cokes or water in your room. We suggest the Jeep Excursion to get an overall feel for the island.

Comfotrable but No Frills

For the price we paid, my boyfriend and I were pretty happy with the resort. The staff was awesome! The rooms (not in the adults only section) were clean and very simple, like I said, no frills. The beds were kind of hard, but definitely not a deterrent. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very impressed with the food or the wine, but then again, we really did not pay a premium price, and well, you just cant have it all. Overall, we had a great vacation! The hotel is about a $15 cab ride from downtown. If you’re brave enough, and plan on leaving the resort often, I would suggest renting a scooter, they’re pretty cheap. We went in October, and the swim-up bar and the buffet eating area were closed because of the low guest count. I wish I would have known that before, but having the pools and beach are to ourselves and just a few others seemed to make up for it!

Our 2nd stay here

We love this resort! We were a little disapointed due to the renovations. I know renovations take time and money but It was not like the first time we went there was a lot more resurants that we could choose from that were open. Overall still had a great time

Was very happy with the hotel

We enjoyed our stay, except because it is the off season there were alot of things not open. The employees really tried to do their best with what they have. The restaurants were very good.

It seems that it would be better to go in the spring of the year rather than the fall

Beautiful Honeymoon

We had a great time at this resort, our room was upgraded without having to ask because it was available. The beach was in prestine condition and the drinks was yummy. The All-Inclusive plan drinks were not watered down and everything was very eager to please. The only downside I had on our stay was the sheets, they weren’t very soft so we were very happy to come back home to our bed.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Try to make reservations at the other restaurants on the property. The food is amazing so you can plan to stay at the resort to eat all meals.

Aura Cozumel, An Incredible Experience

We stayed at the Aura Cozumel Wyndham Resort for our honeymoon. It was eight days of paradise! The staff was extremely friendly and efficient, the food was incredible, the snorkeling magnificent. Everything about the resort was perfect, they were constantly cleaning and maintaining the grounds. We can’t wait to go back!

Great Place & Great Service

We stayed there the third week in September, apparently one of the slowest times of the year for the Wyndam Reef Club in Cozumel. But I’ve got to tell you, we were treated like royalty. The staff was outstanding with major props to the servers, chef and staff at the restaurant. Marcos, Armando, Abraham, Rosanna, and all of the others at the restaurant deserve a big THANK YOU for making our stay awesome. I’ve got to say that the all inclusive was the best buy you could make. Drinks were great and the food was certainly Five-Star quality. They alternated between buffets and menu orders every other evening to keep it mixed up. But at the buffet, they always had a sous chef on the side making up special entrees. The Dive team that works out of the hotel couldn’t have been better. I did six dives and all were handled efficiently, professionally, and they took us to some great places. Saw everything from a 10’ Nurse Shark to tiny Seahorses and lots of Sea Turtles. Our dive master also spotted some huge lobsters and some moray eels peeking out of the swim throughs. Bottom line is that we’ll be back as soon as we can schedule it. Awesome place.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The most dressed up you have to get at the resort is swimming trunks and tee shirts for guys, and bathing suits, cover ups, shorts and tee shirts for ladies. It’s very casual. You can take something a bit nicer for the better restaurants, but you won’t improve on the food at the resort. The chef is very, very good.

Nice resort

We’ve stayed at the Wyndham 8 times on our trips to Cozumel however it was the Reef Club on most of our visits. The Wyndam has really improved the resort including the rooms and the FOOD for sure. We were a little disappointed that only 2 resturants were opened but we went in Sept. and the times are tuff right now so I can understand whyl Jimmy (uses to be in charge of entertainment) is great. He assisted us with alot of our ventures. Thanks to all and can’t wait for next year!

Traveler's tip on shopping

It’s great downtown however don’t shop when the cruise ships are in as the prices go up

Enjoyed it again for the third time.

They were in the middle of remodelling so we were upgraded to the members section. A few sections were closed but it really didn’t make a difference. We really enjoyed it quite thoroughly.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Get a map and rent a car. Be sure to get the optional insurance too. Don’t be afraid to ask for a lower price on things, you can usually get at least a few dollars off.

Don’t hesitate....DO IT!!!

My husband and I just returned from a week stay at the Wyndham. We had a GREAT time! The off season is the time to go in my opinion, no crowds, no lines, no hassles! The staff was friendly and eager to please at all times. The food at the buffet restaruant, La Isla was really good! I was so impressed! After reading some of the reviews on this site and others I was really worried about the food quality and selection, but those people must have stayed somewhere else because the food here was fantastico! It is not buffet everynite either, some nights you order off a menu. They change it up everyday so we had no repeats during our stay. For the price of this package I will go back every year! We rented a Jeep for the week, which I recommend highly because the taxis are spendy and you have the freedom to come and go as you please. Eventhough we had a Jeep we ate off the resort only ONCE! No need to eat elsewhere....that saved us big$$$ You must go to Punta Sur, beautiful! drive around the whole island it is amazing! The drinks are also pretty good. Ask for the "dirty monkey", it is soooo yummy! We had a great time, met a very nice couple from Missouri, had a real adventure, and made memories we will have forever...can’t ask for anything more!

undecided if i will go back ; 2nd time we stayed here.

We stayed here last year and we felt like a guest, this year the feeling was that of just a customer or # to say. Even for a guest they charge a $3 per day per person to use their dock; unless you dive with the dive shop on site. The island feels more like a money trap than a dive location now or even a friendly place. Even the personel here seemed to expect a tip. It is an all inclusive (tips included and we paid a premium.) After tipping we received better drinks with better quality liquor. If you advertise as an all inclusive why would that matter.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

I have been going there since 1998 and have made about 60 trips in those ten years. Felt more like just a # than a guest. Felt like I was being taken advantage of every time I turned around. Taxi, stores, all inclusive, EVERYTHING!

Off Season

We had a good time, the hotel was really empty so they were doing a ton of work on it, which was noisy and frustrating. They closed the restaurants at off times because it was slow which was also a pain. Did not like the restaurant on the hill either. Joel was awesome he was the manager on duty most days. Carlos and Angel at Mosaique were great too.

Loved It!!

The hotel was very clean and well maintained. My husband and I stayed in the Sabor (Adult only) section. I would recommend the adult only section. The food was excellent! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to go back next year. Thanks to the Wyndam and the wonderful staff!

Much better the last time...

I was disappointed with this visit as compared with my last visit to Wyndham. The room was very clean and comfortable. The beach was kept up nicely. The food & drink were the major issues. The fountains were out of order so you would have to wait in long lines to even get a non alcoholic drink. The menu lacked variety. It was basically the same food almost everyday. The meat cuts were VERY cheap and usually tough. The snack bar was constantly running out of some of the menu items. The only decent meal was Roberto’s and I didn’t go to Mexico to get decent Italian food. We like to dive and did not use the slow, inhouse cattle boats operated by SDS. I was then hit up for a $3/person fee to walk out on the dock to get picked up by our chosen dive operator the awesome Dive with Martin. I asked Dive With Martin if any other resorts did this and I was told Wyndham was the only one. I don’t pay for all inclusive to get hit with these types of fees. I expect to pay for the waverunners or to parasail but to simply walk out on a dock and into a differnet boat is rediculous. If SDS didn’t overcharge and under deliver I might have used them. I saved $50/day of diving using Dive with Martin and even had a free video of one of our dives included. I paid $405 for both wife and I for DWM as opposed to $600 for SDS. I will go back to Cozumel it just will not ever be at Wyndham.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you are willing to walk a little ways, like a few blocks, you can avoid the crowded airport buses and go grab a cab for less than 1/2 the price. Use Dive with Martin for your diving.

Don’t do it.

I stayed in this hotel 2 years ago and loved it. This time however I was not impressed. The facilities were the same but the service was very disapointing. The pool bar in the Sabor section was the worst. There was no "thank you" or smiles to be had. I will not be coming back and would recomend that you don’t either.

Scuba, Sun and Sand

The Sabor section of the Wyndam Resort is Adult only and I would recommend it for persons traveling without children. It has the nicest pool on the property and its own restaurant and bar. The service can be slow at lunch when there is a crowd, othewise the food is very good. This is the third time we have stayed at this resort and it is a great value.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Sand Dollar Sports is the on-site dive shop and they provide excellent service. They will provide cleaning and storage for your dive gear. They have serveral dive boats and great dive masters. Best of all being 9 miles south of downtown you are much closer to all the dive sites and spend less time getting to and from the dive.

Great Get-Away, I’m coming back!

Loved it here! Staff was wonderful, very helpful and willing to go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. Food was amazing ( I never went hungry!) Drinks were strong, pool was clean events were fun. This is the first vacation I have ever taken where I didnt want to do anything but lay by the pool or on the beach. Very relaxing and ready to go back!

GREAT BEACH, Staff was great, food was horrible

Staff was great, room was fine and comfortable, resort was clean, LOVED the beach, price was good, but the food was horrible. We’ve stayed at several all inclusive resorts and know what to expect, but this was the worst experience with the food of any we’ve stayed at. We ended up catching a cab ($15-20 each way) and going to town to eat dinner each night.

Traveler's tip on dining

Must go to Especia’s in downtown on Calle 3 between Ave 5 and Ave 10. It is our favorite and Adrien is always a delight.

The Wyndham has gone downhill.

: If you have been to the Wyndham in the past you will be disappointed. Maybe it’s just the economic downturn. And, maybe, if we wouldn’t have been there twice before this wouldn’t have been as noticeable. They have limited the number of restaurants where you can eat to the buffet, Roberto’s and the snack bar around the pool area. Only the vacation club members/adults only guests can eat at the Mosaique or Vista Del Mar. We also had trouble, as in the past, getting reservations. Other negatives, we asked for a king on the ground floor since (my husband has hip pain) and were given a double on the second floor. We had to wait a very long time to check-in and the room was not ready even by 4 pm. Our daughter had to wait several more hours. We did not have water in the room when we arrived, and it took several calls and many hours to get it. They only had one key to give us. The water pressure was very bad, and the tub was old and chipped. The good news is that we didn’t have to keep up with the blue beach towels! No towel cards! And, it was quiet. So, we weren’t miserable. Just disappointed. I’d say to definitely check around and compare to other hotels before you book this one. If it’s a lot cheaper and you have low expectations, it would probably be ok.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Do not pre-book your ground transportation with Expedia or anyone else!!!! I paid $40 roundtrip per person. My daughter paid only $15 roundtrip per person.....$9 per person from the airport, then $6 person back to the airport (share a cab...ask in the lobby as people are checking out!). It was ironic that we were all crammed into the same shuttle on the first leg, and I was paying more than double what she paid!! I felt ripped off to say the least.

Wyndham Cozumel was perfect for us!

The resort was the perfect size. Not too big but big enough to have everything we wanted. The breakfast buffett was good - made to order omelets! Lunch & Dinner not so much. But Roberto’s was fabulous for dinner - we ate there 3 times! Snack bar was great for lunch - really good burgers & nachos, etc. The beach was very nice and snorkeling right off our beach was great! The grounds are very well kept and the service wonderful - everyone was so friendly. We would defintely go back!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Snorkeling is better on the resort. If you’re paying for a boat trip to go out go diving instead. Also - rent a jeep and go all the way around the island. The East side is beautiful - by far our favorite activity.
