Just a so-so hotel
We were there for 4 days in August and it was just a so-so hotel. I think the description and web site made it appear to be more modern than it really it so my expectations were high. It’s an older hotel in a great location with a parking garage (pay for use) which is nice if you have a car. Our room was on the 2nd floor in back which was quiet (from the outside noise) but wooden floors in the hallway made it very noisy during the night. However, the room was comfortable and clean, with a nice bathroom. Breakfast buffet was okay and seemed reasonable for the price but there are lots of places to eat right outside the door so food is never a problem. The one very irritating thing was the phone system - I had to made several calls from the hotel and the phone in the room did not allow me to make calls directly so I had to go through the receptionist at the front desk to give me an outside line and she was downright rude after the second or third time implying that it was my fault that their phone system did not work. No free internet (wifi) service but there is a terrific, beautiful old mansion that has been converted into an internet site, a few blocks away with free internet service, either bring your own computer or use one of theirs. Best thing about the hotel is its location, central within easy walking to all of the tourist sites, the park, restaurants, shopping, train, bus, etc.
