An OK place to stay
The hotel is ok but I happened to get a TINY room. However the location is excellent.

Central yet peaceful
This hotel was very well situated to many tourist and local attractions. La Rambla, with its abundance of tapas bars, sidewalk cafés, tourist artefacts, theatre, bus departing terminals and general atmosphere was literally around the corner. The staff at the hotel was able to communicate in English and they were helpful and knowledgeable in addressing queries. Many famous city attractions are within walking distance from this hotel. Even when we toured outside of the city and caught early tour busses in the morning, there were eateries open nearby so we didn’t need to forego breakfast (including MacDonald’s and Subway.

Don’t do it!
The HCC Taber bills itself as a 3 star hotel. It is barely worth 1 star, even by European standards. And the room was far from inexpensive, even considering the bad exchange rate. While the rooms were clean, the comfort was minimal and charm or character absent entirely. We were supposed to be in a non smoking room but with only one small window (no screens) leading to a tiny cement interior courtyard where the help smokes along with the guests who smoke in the hallways, it made no difference. The ventilation system was just about non-existent so the room was horribly stuffy, rather hot and sleep hard to come by as the walls are paper thin. The location was great but it hardly made up for everything else that was lacking. It was only two nights but it seemed an eternity.
