I liked the balcony best...
We visited Barbados for a weekend. We stayed for 3 nights and for the most part it was ok. Upon check-in the front office staff was friendly. The bell-hop was not that warm but ok. Our room was great until we went to the bathroom. The bathrooms are cheaply done and the bath tubs have little rust marks. I had read other reviews and saw that and specifically requested a bathroom with no rust marks but did not get one. To add insult to injury, the toilet was leaking and so I stepped into a puddle of water when I tried to use the toilet. I called the front office but no one came to fix the issue until noon the next day. We would not allow that to spoil our trip though so we threw a towel on the floor and got on with it. The room was comfortable and nice. We loved the balcony overlooking the pool and spent a lot of time there. The only thing I would add there is a ceiling fan as it gets a bit hot. The restaurant was ok, nothing to write home about but to be fair we only had breakfast there. The beach bar needs an upgrade but the pool is great. I hated the beach..too many rocks. I gave up on it after a while.... It sounds like we had an awful time but we did not. I would stay at the Savannnah again....I would just recommend that the bathrooms be fixed. I hate cheesy bathrooms. Loved Barbados (minus the cuisine)!

St Lawrence Gap is a must! We also went clubbing at Club Xtreme!

Very nice; excellent restaurant
Very nice hotel. Price/performance is very good, the private beach is nice and clean, rooms are comfortable and the staff is very friendly and responsible. We were really impressed by the restaurant, the food may be a bit pricy but is of a very high quality! The breakfast is not the best offer, limit variety, but diners are great!

Disappointed
More rustic than it appears in pictures & description. Exterior maintained but rooms were very disappointing, everything looked warn, bathroom was poorly maintained, shower leaked, towels were old and stained, walls were grubby, furniture on patio was old and cushions were ripped. Restaurant was dingy, food passable but expensive. Only good comment is about the staff who were polite and in most cases very helpful.
Traveler's tip on shopping
If you like night life and plentiful dining choices I suggest staying in Bridgetown or St. Lawrence Gap which has an abundance of great restaurants, eating out is very expensive and we found shopping in Bridgetown unpleasant and nothing out of the ordinary. A full island tour is a must, the Island has interesting cultural features, lovely old churches and plantation houses, make sure you see the Atlantic coast side of the island.

Amazing Experience
This hotel was beyond my wildest dreams. The manager and staff made you feel more like family than a guest. The hotel itself, the layout, is amazingly beautiful. The room we had originally had a small leak in the ceiling and they immediately upgraded us to a bi-level suite. The staff was very knowledgeable about activities and going-ons in the area. The only drawback would be the breakfast selection which could be greatly improved upon. The lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant was good. Plus, there are a few great restaurants within walking distance.
Traveler's tip on dining
The food at Brown Sugar restaurant is exquisite. Its just a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

OK for quiet retreat, but dont expect activity or beach
If you are looking for a quiet retreat at a small hotel, without all the fanfare of entertainment, or menu choices, or beach activity, then the Savannah might be ok. The staff is very hospitable, the grounds are nice (except for the beach, more about that later), and the pool bar cocktails at happy hour are reasonable. Despite a bathroom in terrible need of updating, the room was comfortable, especially the balcony. The pool is artistic, but doesnt leave much room for lounge chairs (approx. 10 total). Now for the bad stuff: do not expect a beach, or a swimable ocean at this hotel. The ocean floor here is all coral and rock, plus the waters edge is filthy with all manner of refuse that washes up here (and no one cleans it away). On our first day, we stepped over a severed chickens head, among other things. We didnt feel exceptionally safe on the beach at night, since there was a wooded public park next door, which stretched along the coast. Being two women, we endured some uncomfortable (though unthreatening) salutations on our trek to the Hilton (great beach there for a $25 day pass). If you prefer calm oceans, stay on the west coast, since waves here could easily knock you down.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Barbados was beautiful! Great history and local culture, stunning sights, reliable weather, plus you can drink the water, pay with American dollars (or easily exchange), and everyone speaks English. For restaurants, I recommend Champers and Pisces (both lovely). Dont miss a visit to St. Lawrence Gap at night. Forget the organized tours and rent a nice taxi/limo (with driver/tour guide) for a few hours. Costs the same and you see more.
