Disappointed

My husband and I live in the suburbs of Mpls and this hotel is in the same building as his law firm. Therefore, we often stay at the Marquette for a quick little getaway. We have always had exceptional rooms and service while staying there and always pick it over the newer hotels. However, this stay was different and dissappointing. There were no robes in our room, a much smaller room and poor bedding on the bed. Those are the things that we really look for when "getting away" for the night. We will try the W or Chambers next time.

Very well located

Very Nice Rooms, Middle of downtown, nice walk to the Metrodome. Too bad the Packers didn’t win.

Newly Redone

My stay at the Marquette was great! Other than all the construction that was going on all around in the streets, which they couldn’t help, I would not have changed a thing. Well, there was a certain desk manager (Pierre I believe was his name) who rolled his eyes when he realized I was from Texas. Other than that, the bellhop was very friendly and helpful, and the other desk clerks were very nice people. This room was the nicest I’ve ever stayed in. The bathrooms had been redone recently and looked spectacular. There was a 44 in. flat screen in the room with a great channel line-up. Although I didn’t choose to consume anything in the mini bar, a large variety of items was available to me. I will definitely stay here again if I come back to Minneapolis.

Traveler's tip on dining

Nothing in the Skyway stays open past 6 or 7 so If you want something to eat late in the evening, you have to venture out into the streets to a restaurant or bar. Late-night fast food is nearly non-existent. Try Hell’s Kitchen a few blocks away from the Marquette Hotel off of Marquette St. They have live music many nights a week and great burgers.

Will Stay Again Next Time in Minneapolis

Very nice and clean hotel. Excellent location. Short walk from downtown shops & restaurants. Room was exceptionally clean. Furniture was new and in excellent condition, not worn or stained. Spotless bathroom. Friendly front desk, letting me check in 2 hours early.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Short walk to main downtown area for shops, restaurants, theater, and nightlife, which is quite important given that Minneapolis doesn’t seem to have many cabs for a city its size. I took the lightrail from the airport to downtown. Clean and very inexpensive.

road construction

The hotel was great, but there was street construction surrounding it making it all but impossible to access the buildings nearby

Poor Service

I stayed at this hotel for just one night - and I’m so glad it wasn’t a minute longer. I arrived for early check-in, which I had set up almost a week earlier, and the front desk told me they were out of non-smoking rooms. After some negotiating, they finally agreed to give me a non-smoking executive suite. This would have been great - except the room they assigned me was OCCUPIED! I woke up a sleeping man when I entered his room! When I told the lobby what happened, the two people working their didn’t apologize once; instead, they just stared at the computer and kept saying that the room should have been vacant for the past two days. They eventually assigned me another room. This one had not one but two spiders hanging out on the drapes, a large white stain on the back of the desk chair, and a shower that was visibly dirty. When I called the front desk that afternoon to ask a question about my TV, they transferred me to housekeeping, who in turn were perplexed why I was asking THEM. Room service that night arrived nearly 30 minutes after the quoted time. I’ve never been inclined to write a bad review of a hotel before - but then again, I’ve never been so disappointed with one!

The Marquette is a great choice for downtown Minneapolis.

The location is perfect, very close to all kinds of dining, shopping and entertainment options. The service was excellent throughout our stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a list of great amenities. I would definitely book a room there again.

In the heart of downtown Mpls

It was exciting to be staying just a few steps off of the Nicolette Mall and right next to the IDS tower. The decore of the room was not traditional but very comfortable and stylish. The windows in the room allowed a side view as well as straight out. The staff was friendly and helpful and always available. I’d definately go back to this hotel

Traveler's tip on dining

Dinner at Barrio’s was excellent. Unique Mexican food, right on the mall. Also breakfast at the Key Cafe in the Foshey, I felt like I was stepping back in time.

Great room! Now, let’s talk about street noise.

Parking, which is always a concern with DT hotels, was fairly easy even with the mass road construction surrounding the IDS Center. The cost was reasonable as well. The lobby, elevators, hallways all were very clean and had minimalist decor that was pleasant if not impressive. The room was much larger than I would have expected and had a great city view. The king bed was large, the TV crystal clear and very plush towels. All-in-all one of the nicer mid-range rooms I’ve stayed in. Except at night. A little street noise is expected but on the 8th floor every person, car or strong gust of wind sounded like it was running through the room next door. I would stay here again even with the noise since it amounted to just a small inconvenience.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Keep the car parked in the IDS lot and instead walk a block to Nicollet Mall and visit The Local Pub. The food isn’t anything special but the ambiance is worth a trip.

Nice hotel, surrounding......not so great!

Hotel was great but I don’t know that I would stay downtown again on a weekend for a Twins game because NOTHING is open. We tried to find a coffee shop to just sit and relax a bit but they are all closed on the weekends. That made the hotel a bit pricey just for the convience of staying close to the dome.

Repeat Customer

This was our second stay at the Marquette. We selected it initially due to the proximity to the Orpheum Theater, good retaurants and shopping. We returned this year for the same reasons and our satisfaction with the hotel and its personnel.

Very Impressed

The lobby is a little cramped, however, the room was very impressive. I liked the full mini-bar which offered much more variety than average. After an evening out we were craving a good pizza and the pizza delivery they promote is excellent, reasonably priced, and fast.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Get a skyway map in advance off the internet and remember they will be closed for the most part once the clubs close.

beautiful hotel

We were very impressed with the hotel and the room. The beds were super comfortable! We went to the bar after the concert and were told by the waitress that they stopped serving food at midnight (it was 11:45) so "to figure out what we want like now". We thought that was pretty rude so I wouldn’t recommend the bar!

Best hotel in Minneapolis

This was the 3rd time we stayed at the Marquette Hotel while in Minneapolis. Each time was better than before. The hotels rooms are wonderful. The beds are one of the best beds that we have stayed in. The room had everything that we needed and more. I would highly recommend this hotel and can’t wait to go back.

Short Stay

I enjoyed the hotel. We went for a wedding. The resturant was nice. We had booked the executive floor but all services were closed due to lack of demand. That was a big negative as it was not indicated when we booked. Parking is expensive. I would rate this hotel a 3/5 on my scale

Nice Rooms

Rooms are very comfortable and roomy which is nice to have while on business or leisure travel. The bathrooms have a lot of room as well. The hotel is situated next to a shopping center which is nice for a variety of food choices. Also part of the skywalk and close to all downtown businesses. I would defintely stay again and recommend for business travelers.

Impressive Quality and Value

We decided to visit friends in the Twin Cities and do some holiday shopping. The Marquette was ideally located for sightseeing, watching Holidazzle parade, and accessing all of the great restaurants, shopping, and amenities downtown Minneapolis offers. The place was very clean, very professional, and the room would have been a deal at twice the price; it was that nice. We are recommending it to our friends and will definitely book there next time we go there.

Great stay, great value

I stayed at the Marquette for a recent football weekend. I found the room to be one of the nicest I’ve had for a long time. It was spacious and classy. The staff was very friendly. It was a great value for the dollar, as well.

Perfect for a weekend get-away

We felt pampered in this hotel. Great for weekend trips. Parking was sometimes a little tight. Also the double beds are not double beds! They are more the size of twin beds. Very clean and comfortable beds, however. We would stay here again.

Traveler's tip on dining

Hell’s Kitchen has moved- is less than a block away. It was great as usual - especially for breakfast!

good downtown hotel

I stayed at this hotel while in town for a wedding. Most of the wedding party stayed there as well, so that’s a good sign. I shared a room with two doubles with a friend and there was plenty of room for both of us to spread our stuff out. The shower was nice (although I heard that they used to have saunas in them - even better!) They are located right downtown, within walking distance to everything. I rented a car, but it was completely unnecessary. Overall a satisfactory stay at a decent price.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t rent a car while you’re here - you can take the light rail from the airport and walk pretty much everywhere. I walked to the Walker Art Gallery in about 20 minutes and took a nice stroll along the waterfront - really lovely.
