Way behind the times

This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel, but it does not offer Internet access in its rooms. I tried to connect and was charged $15 (an "automatic" charge each day even if you only peek at one email). The hotel is large and impressive from the outside, but the decor is outdated and a bit cheesy, the Musak played in the elevators is annoying, the professional services only provided at inflated additional cost (at a time when smaller hotels already offer free wireless or even computers in the rooms). We booked here to use the gym, which was the only thing about the hotel which was reasonably good. The breakfast is full of packaged products rather than fresh ones, and the food we had at this hotel was high priced and not especially good.

Traveler's tip

Avoid this hotel. There are many better options at lower prices

Hanoi Opulence

This hotel lived up to the hype that I heard about it before going. It is definitely a 5-star hotel and well-worth the price. The lobby is incredibly beautiful and the rooms are great. The breakfast that is included is unbelievable! A huge selection of different types of food and all delicious. I enjoyed my stay greatly!

Services are extraordinary

Different from "Hanoi Hilton", Hilton Hanoi Opera is everything you need for business travel. Services at hotel are extraordinary. Great room, food, location and best of all is the staff. We certainly will stay at Hilton again on next trip.

Good location and friendly staff.

The hotel is located next to the Hanoi Opera and within a 5 minute walk from a street full of great art galleries. The staff was helpfull and friendly. The hotel food was good, choice of Vietnamese or Western cuisine. The driver of the Hilton car from the airport to the hotel offered to make a little detour through the city on our way to the hotel, to help us get oriented and get a first glance at the center of Hanoi.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Great location, close to all the high end Vietnamese art galleries.

Time for a makeover

Compared to the 100+ year old hotel just down the road Hilton has a long way to go to match its charm and character. The service is very bland. They do well to make you feel like you could be in any other city in the world, which I think it is a shame considering its location. I would definitely try to stay somewhere more creative next time I visit such a magical city.

Perfect Location to explore Hanoi.

Hotel excellently located, with in walking distance of old Hanoi and the central places in the guide books. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Take a piece of fruit back from breakfast, good for a snack when on a trip.

Good location, worth the money

We were only there for one night, but they allowed us to check out late to accommodate our later flight out of Ha Noi. We did have to pay for an extra half day, but it was still helpful. We were also able to walk to most of the big sights, and it was a very comfortable hotel. I would certainly suggest it for anyone looking to enjoy the sites of Ha Noi. There might be cheaper options, but at least with the Hilton you know what you will be getting.
