New Hotel Vieux Port

Very happy with our stay

The hotel... was as most previous reviews mentioned and there were no surprises. The hardest thing was finding the place with Gps in our hire care as the address does not take you to the small street where you can park the car while unloading your luggage. True to their word the Supermarket carpark across the street was a good place to park the car when not in use. The staff were friendly and I will certainly stay here again should I return to Marseille.

The hotel was nice, clean. However, there was no emergency exit.

Great Location, Quiet & Comfortable

This hotel is at a great location. You see it right as you come out of the metro, yet for its location is was a quiet room. The breakfast was expensive, but it was also very good. The staff spoke English. The room was comfortable. It was weird to have to check in and out a physical key (no electronic keys) but I guess that is common in other countries.

Nice location, nice rooms

This location was convenient to the harbor and restaurants and very, very convenient to the metro (70 feet). The issues with the hotel were that is was a city center hotel and did not have very good sound insulation from the outside noise. Sirens were very, very common. I would also opt against the onsite breakfast. It was fairly meager, and there are so many wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Hotel staff was fluent in English which is nice as my French isn’t passable. I would stay there again if I found myself in Marseilles.

Great Hotel, great location near the old port.

Great Hotel. Recently renewed. Room was rather big for France. Very helpful staff. Perfect location, near historical sites, old port, night life and subway station.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Go for the formulas when you go out for dinner. You get a set menu for a great price.

Nice hotel in the square where the action is. The breakfast is worth the money. Large rooms with large bathrooms.

Spacious, clean and fine

I stayed "Exotic" room. It is spacious, clean and fine. Even though I could not see View Port from my room, it is OK.

nice bet for novice travelers to France

Hotel nicely renovated and rooms are clean and well deocrated. We had a nice view of the port/water with the upgraded room. Breakfast available on premise was good and convenient. Hotel staff spoke English well and were very friendly. Area seemed pretty safe and situated close to the action/restaraunts along the boats. Easy walk to historical attractions. Currency exchange was nearby. Parking was right across the street but was expensive (what isn’t in Europe). I would defintely recommend the hotel. Marsaille was a fun time for our first visit to France.

Great Location

The Hotel Vieux Port’s major benefit is it location, which is right on the old port, close to all the top restaurants and the metro/major bus links. Otherwise, this is standard hotel that is clean but not particularly luxurious. The staff was helpful in terms of giving directions and recommendations. There is no common area in the hotel - just the front desk and lift to the rooms. It is simply a place to put down your bags and sleep at night.

Not nearly as good as I had been led to believe

Marseille is not a city over-supplied with good hotels. This hotel (no bar or central lounge) is OK for an overnight stopover, but not really a suitable base for a stay. Care has been taken with room decoration though, and it was clean. Rooms are better decorated than they are designed; and really not ideal for a business stay.
