Oasis in Tempe

Comfortable rooms, nicely decorated with nod to Southwest mission/adobe style. Moderately priced and good value. Quiet, cool, calm with with open-air interior courtyard planted with tall palms and lemon trees; shaded courtyard dining available; rooftop swimming pool; conveniently located right next to Arizona State University Tempe campus, and Mill Avenue. There were conventions meeting at the hotel during both of my recent stays and the groups did not take away from my enjoying this hotel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

adjacent to ASU Tempe campus, very convenient when visiting children attending this college. Taliesin West, home of Frank Lloyd Wright in nearby Scottsdale, 15 minute drive away

Could not have been better

I made a last minute business trip and took my son so he could tour ASU. The location could not be better for ASU. We had a blast walking out the door and turning on Mills Street in the evenings. the staff, esp. valets, desk could not have been more friendly and helpful with suggestions for dining and directions. the room was clean, roomy and stylish. as a bonus, they have great workout room, pool and tennis on the roof.

The hotel is clean, service is so-so

The Valet service people do not help much when you have a problem.

Excellent location for someone without a car

I selected this hotel because I arrived by air, and didn’t want to rent a car. I took the free shuttle bus from the airport to the light rail station, and after waiting less than ten minutes, I caught a train for the ten minute ride to the Mills Avenue light rail station. From there, it was only a five minute walk to the hotel. There were MANY restaurants to choose from within walking distance. The hotel itself exceeded my expectations.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t bother with renting a car. Even though the hotel provides a free shuttle to the airport, the light rail was just as convenient. The light rail is also convenient it you want to go to downtown Phoenix or to the ballpark. Many restaurant choices within walking distance.

Incredible Location

If you are looking for a hotel in Tempe and want to be near everything in Tempe, this is perfect. The hotel is clean and the staff are great. We had to deal with some construction issues, but that was the only negative. Beautiful courtyard, excellent breakfast bar, complimentary valet, and walking distance to tons of restaurants and shops makes this place perfect if you are staying in Tempe. Try a sunrise hike up the "A" Butte right behind the hotel!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

I recommend getting a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and then renting a car from outside of the airport. You will save a lot of money and it will be just as convenient as dealing with the airport car rental terminal.

Good but not great

Nice hotel but the rooms are soon going to need some work done as they are starting to get quite dated and worn looking. The bed was not all that comfortable. The location however cannot be beat.

A don’t miss for Tempe

Having visited numerous resorts over the years, in the Tempe area, the Mission Palms is by far a bargain for quality and service. The staff was friendly and well informed on the local area, as well as helpful with special requests. The Tempe Mission Palms will not disappoint.

perfect location for events at ASU

This hotel does a great job providing great service, very comfortable and inviting public areas and a location that can’t be beat if you need to be in Tempe.

Traveler's tip on dining

There is a surprisingly wide variety of dining choices within walking distance from the hotel: La Boca, Cafe Boa, Z’Tejas, PFChang’s and Gordon Biersch to name a few.

Perfect location, service and price!

The only "issue" we had during our six day stay was that the housekeeper didn’t replace our coffee or stirrers two mornings but all it took was a phone call and it was taken care of. They even checked back with us to make sure everything had been done. We will definitely go back!

It was ok

The common areas of the hotel were very nice, but the room needs a little work. The sink faucet was barely attached to the sink. The drain to the shower was very slow. The coffee maker had so much build up in it that it took 20 mins to brew the coffee. But the guest service people where outstanding offering to drive us places and pick us back up.

Great Location

The Tempe Mission Palms is steps from Mill Avenue, a Tempe hot spot for bars, restaurants and shopping. It’s also a short drive from fun Phoenix attractions such as the Phoenix Zoo and Chase Field. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. It’s the perfect location for a weekend get-away.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Phoenix Zoo was an unexpected treat. Nestled in Papago Park it embraces the natural aesthetic while showcasing zoo favorites. The hike to view the desert big horn sheep is well worth it!

Noise from the Airport

Older Hotel, noise from the airport was bad. The air conditiong in the room was not working very well at all. This being the middle of July was not good at all. Close to ASU a good thing but don’t think we will stay again.

Will definitely stay here again when in Phoenix area

A clean, comfortable full service hotel in the heart of Tempe very near ASU, Mill Avenue restaurants, and Tempe City Lake Park. Free airport shuttle. Great places to walk around the campus and along the lake. Close to the zoo and botanical garden.

Traveler's tip on dining

Try the Irish Pub on Mill Avenue next to the hotel. It’s in a historic 1880’s building.

Great Hotel in the Heart of Tempe

I graduated from ASU 10 years ago and this was my first stay at the Tempe Mission Palms. The location is great - close to the airport, shopping and great restaurants. I’ll definitely stay here again if the rate is right.

Must be Tempe’s best hotel.

This hotel was only a few blocks from ASU, downtown shops and restaurants, and local government offices. And, it was close to the airport, too. The hotel restaurant was only fair. All the staff I encountered were helpful and friendly.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you’re flying to Phoenix and only doing local things at ASU and downtown Tempe, there is no need to rent a car. Just take a cab to this hotel, walk to local businesses/restaurants, and the hotel has a van to take you back to airport.

What a pleasant surprise!

Having never seen or heard of this hotel, I was a bit skeptical. However, it was close to my daughter’s home in Tempe, and seeing her was the purpose of our visit. The hotel is perfectly situated, on Mill Ave. Great shopping and dining. I was impressed with the larger than usual hotel room, friendly service, and beautiful grounds. Thank you, Expedia, for the discounted price for this stay. We are planning to return to Tempe sometime in August, and would not consider staying anywhere but the Tempe Mission Palms.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The free airport shuttle is an extra plus.
