it s ok for the price

very good hardware. It needs to improve its service. I ordered Internet service but I never got it before I left. and also it s trying to chaege extra airport picking up fee which suppose to be included in the expedia purchase.

Disappointed

The young lady at the tour desk was not interested in giving any information but liked to be on her cell phone. I booked a delux room which was very small, in a corner, carpets need to be changed. On the day of departure I settled the bill in cash, two clearks (one gentleman and one lady) counted the money. To my greatest surprise after 45 minutes on the way to airport the cleark from the hotel calls the taxi drver’s cell phone that they are they are short of Rs1000 ($20) !!! Those guys need lot of training. There are lots of better Hotels in New Delhi.

Not Impressed

The hotel was OK. The service was not very good and they were not prompt in answering calls or providing recommendations for things to do in the City. The spa was completely booked so i asked for a local spa in the neighborhood - they gave two numbers to "massage parlors" that offered "special services" i was mortified!!! a lot of Japanese business men stay in this hotel so maybe thats why.... they dont have pizza on the room service menu and the beds were not that comfortable. i was expecting more from a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was only decent. The shower was about the only great thing.

Good hotel in centre

Hotel service fine, good breakfast, nice deli. Nice to return here after a busy day in the centre

Manager unhelpful. Never be delayed arriving at this hotel!

The hotel itself it ok. Not as nice as some 5-star, but clean with adequate service. The manager was not helpful. We called once our flight to Delhi was canceled (never fly Air France) and the manager was not helpful at all regarding canceling the first night of the reservation. He steadfastly refused to alter the reservation and would not even consider a discount or refund, He even refused to refund the breakfast buffet!

very convenient

great location,rooms are a little small fot the cost but for one night it was fine.The breakfast buffet is excellent.Good service by front desk and bell hops.Kid friendly as well.

Not going back

I have stayed at many of Delhi’s 4 star hotels and this was one of the worst. We had to change our room 3 times due to a sewage stench in each room. We noticed the same smell very strong at times even in the lobby and buffet area. The staff was not very helpful except for one girl named Hema who was the only one willing to take care of my family and I. When it came to checking out, it took almost 2 hours to get our bill and then came with 56 pages of calls we did not make. I’m definitely not staying here again. I stayed at the Lalit at the beginning of my trip and would stay at that hotel again in a heartbeat

Excellent hotel, convenient for Japanese speakers

Great services, restaurants and clean rooms. 2 x 1 litter water bottle are very helpful in India... but you might ask other brand of water (imported ones?). Hot water was not actually hot... I don’t know it’s common or not. I accidentally left something at the room and they found it and tried to send it back to US, so kind. Some people speaks Japanese and there is a Japanese restaurant, so it’s convenient to Japanese speaker, especially for elder people.

Excellent service

The Metropolitan Hotel was conveniently located for our stay in New Delhi in close proximity to shopping and points of interest in the capital. Building decor is of wood, rendering and marble with the hotel having completed a renovation around 10 years ago. All the appointments in the rooms are modern with prompt and friendly service when the concierge or front desk are called. The building and its surrounds are well maintained with emergency exits and fire stairs prominently located for easy access should they be required. Tourist Police are also stationed at the hotel for the protection of tourists and guests.

Be wary when leaving the hotel premises by foot as you will be surrounded by locals wanting to take you shopping. Many locals have agreements with shops where they get a commission from your purchases.The hotel staff strongly recommend a taxi should you wish to go anywhere and they are relatively cheap. The newest shopping centre is called SAKET and is 40 rupee by taxi. The shopping centre is very modern and is comparable to any large western shopping centre

Great Value

The manager was great!! He handle my overcharge problem professionally!

The restaurant staff was very polite and welcoming. The consierge was efficient and never said no to any of our questions! The door men were also very nice when a driver we hired gave us a hard time they came to our rescue. I was so happy with everyone on a daily basis that I did not know how to tip them more. I stayed at the Intercontinental in Mumbai and service was no way near the Metropolitan! Thank you all who made my stay comfortable!!!. Special thanks to the manager!

Very nice hotel and value for money

This hotel is conveniently located and has friendly and helpful staff. The food was very nice with an excellent Japanese restaurant in the hotel. Will stay there again and definitely recommend it to anyone passing through Delhi.

Overall good place to stay

On the whole it was a nice hotel with good restaurants. Even though the initial setup for the internet was a bit slow, the hotel immediately sent IT people for this and once done it worked perfectly. Contrary to some previous reviews, getting a card was easy, I just asked for it at reception and it was delivered to my room a few miuntes later. The hotel was well maintained and provided a relaxing atmosphere to stay, will definitely consider staying there again.

Decent Hotel

Not the very best

There is a range of quality in India, even amongst 5 star hotels. This hotel, although having excellent employees and service, is a bit dated. I think there are better values for a bit more money. If you stay here, the Club Floors are a must.

Not the place to stay in Delhi

Our stay at the Metropolitan was stressful and upsetting, the single worst experience of our trip to India. Upon arrival, I had several important business matters to attend to that required me to have internet access. After going through the unnecessarily complicated process of getting a coupon in the business center and creating an account, there were consistent complications with the connection for 3 hours. In addition, one of the phones and the desk lamp did not work for our entire stay, neither was replaced. In the morning, there was a problem with the electricity in the room and we had no lights for half an hour. The room itself was mediocre, with a grungy looking carpet and greying white walls. There was a pervasive musty smell in the room and halls. Finally, after checkin, we learned that the hotel was tip-free, a fact we learned after giving tips to the porters and guest relations hostess who brought us to our room. None of the staff refused our tips as they had in previous tip free hotels where we have stayed, nor did they alert us to the policy.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Humayun’s tomb is a must-see in Delhi, be sure to climb the stairs for amazing views of the city. Tourists beware!! Cottage Industries (CIE) offers fine craftsmanship but at outrageously high prices. Most of these items can be found at comparable, if not better, quality elsewhere for a lot less. Bargain hard, especially in very touristy areas like Jaipur and Calcutta, where even 50% the quoted price is still a rip-off.
