Great Deal in Verona
For the price, Hotel Porta Palio was a great choice. It was clean and well air-conditioned, the staff was very nice, the breakfast was great, and the location, while not quite in the middle of things, was only a short walk to the old city. I had a great experience and would stay here again if I were to return to Verona.

Poor Experience
The hotels location is to far to walk from the main train station. When we finally made it to the hotel, walking, the hotel staff was not very friendly. The staff acted like we were putting them out by checking into the hotel. Once we got into the room, the room was very small. We turned the water on in the bathroom sink and were flooded. The water leaked from underneath the sick and ran onto the floor. The hotel personnel acted like they didnt believe the floor was flooded. Once we convenced them that there was water all over the floor of the bathroom, he did send someone to fix it right away. They also replaced all of the wet towels with clean dry ones. If you get a room away from the main street the view is very nice. The air conditioner did not work very well at all. The micro-shower was the smallest shower I have ever seen. I would stay at a different hotel next time I go to Verona.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
You could purchase beer and soda in the lobby of the hotel which was nice. I would recommend seeing the Verona Arena while you are in Verona. There are a lot of shops, bars and restaurants near the Verona Arena.

modern and convenient
Very comfortable, clean rooms, which are large by Italian standards. A great breakfast, and very helpful staff. The hotel isnt in the center of Verona, though, and its a little bit of a walk to the center, maybe 20 minutes. Certainly possible, but not always very fun. Id stay here again!
