way overrated

I am not clear about this but I think in the Philippines, the ratings of a hotel are based on whatever the Hotel owner wants to put in. Example being this place, in order to check in you got to first figure out where the front desk is, even what floor it is hidden on. Then you can check in only if the desk clerk is not to busy texting someone. When you get to the room double check the lock on your door, I noticed something odd and played with it after I got into the room and found that you could just open the door from the outside. When I called room service they came and knocked on my door and I yelled "come in" and the young fellow walked in and said "what’s the concern sir?" I had to ask him if it’s normal for him to be able to just walk into a room when it’s electronically locked. Evidently he understood only after a 15 minute review. Half hour later they moved me to another room. Both rooms had somewhat clean bathrooms, maybe wiped down with a dirty cloth, mold seen on the ceiling. I walked out in the neighborhood to grab a bite and all they had nearby was to fast food joints, there is really nothing in this neighborhood for tourists and it’s a bit seedy. The rooms were extremely bland, nothing even on the walls in the disguise as decor. And while many more inexpensive places offer free Wi-Fi, this one had a certain floor you had to go to with an outrageous price to use it, such a rip off. This place is basically a youth Hostel disguised as an executive hotel.

Not To Be Missed

This hotel is accessible to all. My room’s a/c failed and was immediately transferred and assisted by 2 staffs. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The hotel needs better lighting in the lobby and floor corridors. Not to be missed is the front desk’s competent and friendly staff.

Hot water and A/C are not the best feautures of this hotel

I stayed at the Pearl Manila for 4 days. It was a good hotel for the price. There are some good things and bad things about the hotel. Bad are the HOT water only stays hot for 6-8 minutes then maybe 20 minutes to get hot agian. The A/C no matter how cold you try to adjust it only keeps the room in the high 70’s (maybe 78 degrees) no lower. It was OK to sleep in but not as cold as I would like. I did not need a blanket. It had a nice refrigerator that kept drinks cold and also they gave you 1-2 free bottles of water a day. The FREE breakfast buffet was OK. They made me ham and egg omelette No cheese was available. It also had some asian food availanble. Rice and some other stuff. The pool was on the top floor on the outside. The pool area was nice. It had lounge chairs and the pool was a good size. You can not bring in any outside food only beverages. A security guard checks your bags at the entrance of the hotel. If you need to shower in hot water for a long time do not choose this hotel or like to sleep in cold cool A/C. It just kept it midly cool. In day time it was maybe 80 degrees in room and the A/C was seemed like it was just blowing air but it was actuyally blowing cool air but so little it was hard to tell.
