Right across the street from the Alhambra

This hotel was right across the street from the Alhambra and it was very clean and the food was very good and the staff was helpful and most could speak English although they would indulge you if you wanted to try out your High School Spanish. The pool was a nice treat after walking around the Alhambra for most of the day.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Take the night bus tour of the Albycin from the hotel with a visit to the Gypsey caves and Flaminco dancing.

Great location and great experience.

This hotel was just across the road from the Alhambra complex and had it’s own parking lot. It was easy to take the bus into the city. The pool was a great refuge from the afternoon heat. The buffet breakfast had plenty of choices.

Traveler's tip on dining

Several restaurants are close by but we enjoyed the outdoor one across the street just next to the Alhambra.

The Best!

Hotel Alixares is right across the road from AlHambre. The service was friendly, the buffets--especially breakfast--delicious and economical, the swimming pool was a hot weather refuge. All around it was great.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Al Hambre is across the road--make reservations 1st and avoid lines of hundreds of people.

Attractive hotel in great location

The Alixares Hotel is an older hotel located within a short walk of the entrance to the Alhambra. We chose it for the location and the very reasonable cost of the room. I was pleasantly surprised by the attractiveness of the property. We were only there one night and so didn’t use the pool or other amenities, but they were clearly enjoyed by other guests. service was friendly and professional. I’d recommend the hotel to a friend and would return myself.

The hotel was in a great location for the alhambra. Staff was great and spoke english. Just need clocks in the rooms.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Prefect place to stay if you are going to the Alhambra which is in walking distance.

Great Granada Location

The Alixares is located a short downhill walk from the Alhambra entrance. If you are in good shape, downtown Granada is only about a 30 minute walk as well. The staff was very friendly, especially the bartender who went out of his way with extra "tapas" as well as help with getting a taxi. The hotel is not fancy, but clean, well maintained, and our stay was a pleasure.

Would definately use the hotel

If the Alhambra is your principle destination point, this hotel is for you. Desk personnel were extremely accomodating and helpful in every way. They even allowed us to enter the room earlier than the time posted so that we could going on our expedition.

Very satisfied

The hotel is very close to the Alhambra, it is quite clean and comfortable. The shower is not the best. In general, I am quite satisfied with the hotel and I would use it again.

Decent

Contrary to what I’d read in earlier reviews on this website and elsewhere, I found the staff at Alixares to be quite nice and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet was okay, although a little pricey. I didn’t have dinner there, but there are other dining options nearby (although downtown Granada offers better dining). The hotel seemed to attract a lot of senior citizens, including a lot of Americans and Germans, which provided for a rather interesting - and slightly awkward - experience. It seems to be a favorite of tour bus groups. Parking was easy to come by, since it is near huge parking lots for the Alhambra. Getting to the hotel by driving and by taxi was easy since it is right near the Alhambra. Overall, the convenience of the hotel wins out over any possible deficiencies - it is both very close to the Alhambra and buses to downtown Granada. So if seeing the Alhambra is your primary goal for a trip to Granada, than you’d do well to stay at Alixares or any of its neighbors.
