Independence Bowl Travelers Be Careful
My 6 yr old son and I went to Shreveport to watch our Dawgs play in the Independence Bowl and realized quickly that the town was not ready for roughly 50,000 visitors. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, the clerks were turning away patrons who had booked through various internet sites and they stated the internet sites had them overbooked. The customer service was very low and they were not friendly to the fans who thought they had confirmed reservations. At check in the first words from the clerks were "Do you want to go to another hotel" and I said I have a reservation here and would like to stay here. Fortunately we were able to check in, unlike the few others in the lobby, and got a room. The room was adequate but reeked of stale cigarette smoke in a "non-smoking" room. This wasnt a horrible thing but it did make me a little uncomfortable throughout the night. For the price we paid I would expect a little more service, but I just place the fault on the fact that the hotel and the city wasn’t prepared for the visitors. It turned out to be a nice trip but I will be careful to booking without knowing the hotel next time. Live and learn is the way I see it.

3 star hotel
Room was great location for proximity to football stadium. Rooms were old and smelled of cigarette smoke. It was REALLY strong the first night, but not as bad the second. Good hotel for just sleeping and showering. Wouldn’t loiter. Rooms were clean, but beds are getting awfully worn.

Check in went smoothly, and the desk clerk was pleasant. The toilet did not work, and the TV picture was not clear. We asked for another room and were told that they would get the toilet fixed while we were out. Ten hours later, the toilet had not been fixed. Overall, the room was well worn and needed refurbishing. The bed was comfortable. Everything else needed to be cleaned up or replaced. We will not stay there again.
