The Belamar, a Larkspur Hotel

a perfect choice!

My husband + I were down from Seattle for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and to visit friends in the LA area, taking advantage of a low air fare in/out of Long Beach airport. We had friends in Hermosa + Venice Beach. The Belamar’s location was convenient for everything and the hotel was terrific! Good value as well. A lovely breakfast was included both mornings. We arrived a bit late on a Friday night so our friend from Venice Beach met us at the hotel and we had dinner in the restaurant. Really great dinner and exceptional service! All three of us commented on how superior everything was, especially our waitress. Having a rental car at the Belamar was a breeze, no big parking charge and always a friendly valet.. I will return and will happily recomment this property to all.

Disappointed in service

The first time I stayed at the Belamar Hotel, 2 years ago, I was pleasantly surprised and very satisfied - even though they were in the middle of some construction. This time, not only did they give us the wrong room, 1 king bed instead of 2 dbl beds, but they weren’t apologetic. (We’ll give you the cot, free! instead of I’m sorry for the inconvenience). The next day ,(we stayed for 3 nights,4 days), I had to not only explain the mistake all over again, but the front desk person had to ask me,"when are your checking out?" before offering to correct my situation. Not only could she have looked it up herself, she could have also apologized. But no apology. Lastly, we had 3 people in our room but they only left towels for 2 people; we just shared whatever towels we had......overall, I was very disappointed as my last stay was surprisingly pleasant.

Great place for a reunion

This is an easy to find hotel with very nice accommodations and amenities. The hot tub was perfect and the pool was small, but nice. The facilities were lovely for a school reunion.

Very nice hotel

Nice size room. Free and consistent internet access. Clean hotel, good service, reasonable rates...good value...they don’t nickel and dime you for extra services like internet, valet parking etc. Very healthy and tasty food from the restaurant for room service. Overall, very high marks..

Great Refit

Really nice rooms and in a handy location. No problems whatsoever. Free Valet parking is very handy.

For breakfast go to the North End Cafe and try the Huevos Divorciados, Yum!

my go to hotel in Manhattan Beach, CA

This is a very comfortable and convenient hotel. I have stayed here many times. Only suggestion is that the rooms could have brighter lights in the bathrooms and for working/ reading.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Lots of restaurants (Petros!!!) and great shops in nearby downtown Manhattan Bch., and great people watching on The Strand (by the beach). Belamar has a few bikes to borrow also!

Great hotel...met all my requirements....

Loved this hotel. I stayed an extra night which they accommodated. Very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The customer service was fantastic by everyone. I would highly recommend it to anybody.

Great Boutique Hotel

Great hotel for the price. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel has comp valet parking only. At times they were a little short staffed and had to wait a while for our car. I would recommend.

A pleasant surprise

The hotel was very clean and bright, and the staff was uniformly very friendly and helpful.

Comfortable and centrally located

If you have work or are looking to travel in and around the Los Angeles area, this is a good hotel for the price. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and it had a well appointed bathroom. It also had a mini fridge. Another added bonus was the complimentary valet parking - a unique feature in this city! Workout room was fairly updated but it did not have a tv. Breakfast was good in the restaurant. A nice 1.2 mile walk on a path to the beach and the downtown area of Manhatten Beach. Only 3-4 miles from LAX.

Very nice

great hotel and very clean. Very good taste in its decor. However, the breakfast (expensive) lacked adequate service : the waiter never came to our table. We sat at least ten minutes waiting and had to call someone to get some attention. The restaurqnt was almost empty

LOVED THE STAY!

The Belamar takes staying in a hotel a step further and adds a decorative touch to the rooms. It made me feel like I was staying in a resort.

Great except for a too small bathroom

I would not have stayed there except for the free day promotion -- that made the property a more reasonable value. Everything was good. The room was excellent except for the bathroom -- way too small for a property that wants to be upscale. Breakfast buffet was very meager -- staff was overwhelmed. Front desk was extremely friendly and helpful.

The Larkspur is very centrally located. A good value not far from LAX and the beach.

Great hotel!

Next stay in LA, I will come back here. Very clean rooms and a very good restaurant! I would recomand this hotel to anyone.

Great hotel, crummy housekeeping

Overall great hotel. Only one complaint is the housekeeping was really off. Seems like they came in, made the bed and left. Empty soda and water bottles left behind, as well as no towels and no attention to replacing magazines, utensils, ect. Strange, almost like it was intentional... We didn’t complain the first day, but it was that way for all three days. Guess the HK manager was non-existent or bad training. Overall good stay, just funky housekeeping... Great restaurant with friendly bar tenders...

Traveler's tip

Check and see if there are any functions in the courtyard (a good portion of the rooms look out onto the courtyard). There was a wedding when we were there. Very loud, but it was fun to watch all the party go’ers, but could be a pain if you wanted to get some sleep. The wedding died down by midnight, so no biggy on a Saturday night.

Ok hotel

It was an ok hotel, too far from the boardwalk to walk to the area. It is fine, but next time I will just stay at an LAX airport.

Will definitely come back!!

First and foremost, the staff at The Belamar Hotel were the very friendly, professional, and thorough. From the time we checked in, everything was explained to us - where our room was located, where the gym was, even down to suggesting some great restaurants in the area. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were very clean. I can’t wait to come back again in July. :)

Rock ’n Fish in Downtown Manhattan Beach and The Kettle Restaurant. Rock ’n Fish has the best crab cakes and The Kettle is open 24 hours.

Great location, extremely comfortable beds

The Belamar is a very nice high quality hotel located close to LAX in upscale Manhattan Beach. The 405 fwy is nearby which gives you access to all of Los Angeles. My only complaint is that the ceilings are thin and I could hear the people upstairs walking around very early in the morning. Try to get a top floor room. The amenties are excellent: The gym is usable, and there is a business center with computers and free internet. There is a large shopping center just across the street with everything from upscale shops to a supermarket and several restaurants. I will definitely stay there again

I wouldn’t stay there again.

This hotel had a nice atmosphere, decor was unusual for a hotel, but in a good way. The complaints I have are the rooms were not very spacious, the beds seemed small, and we didn’t receive our only wakeup call we requested. Also, if you do not want valet parking you would need to park out on the street.

Will Return

We have found ourselves making several trips to Southern California and your hotel, after many, is the place we will being staying from now on. Also, have recommended to others.

Awesome cozy hotel

This was a really nice hotel with excellent service, nicely decorated room and a lovely heated swimming pool, clean towels etc. Eating places were walking distance. Manhattan beach is great. Totally recommend this hotel.

The Belamar

From the minute you drive up to The Belamar you can tell that you it’s a nice hotel. The staff is very helpful and they go out of their way to assist you. When I asked about an upgrade to a balcony room the front desk was able to accommodate my request. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast in The Second Story was excellent and service was great. The valet had our car in minutes and the free parking was a pleasant surprise. We will definitely stay here on our next visit to L.A.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is a Bristol Farms not far from the Hotel. You can get reasonable meals and snacks there. Also, Manhattan Village Mall is right across the street .

The Belamar Hotel is a very nice hotel in a great location -- close to the beach towns, restaurants, shopping, and not too far from most LA sites.
