Beautiful design, one huge issue
The Lumen in Dallas is in a wonderful location nestled next to the SMU campus. Parking is free if you drive a hybrid, so that is a major perk. All staff and personnel are friendly and accommodating. The hotel design and decor is interesting, beds very comfortable. The shower has all glass doors and features a multi-head full body spray array. The one problem, and this is a big one, is that they did not design the rooms with adequate insulation in the walls. I could hear the 5 AM phone conversation in the room next door. I couldnt understand the words, but I could hear his British accent. After that I could hear the t.v. on for the next hour. These were normal level sounds and were entirely audible. I simply cant stay at a hotel where I cant sleep, no matter how much i like everything else. My sister pointed out that when you make reservations online, you have the option to ask for a "quiet room". Perhaps that would make a difference, but I would assume a certain level of quiet would be understood in any hotel.

Very nice boutique hotel
This is a very cool hotel in an excellent Dallas location across from SMU in Highland Village. The executive suite we stayed in was very spacious and comfortable at a great price. The staff was very responsive and the restaraunt served good quality, fresh food. Highly recommend this hotel.

Ok Stay
The day that I checked in, Hotel Lumen didnt even have my reservation in their computer. As a result we got the smallest suite available after booking way in advance. I wasnt happy about that at all. The bed was nice and the shower was awesome. However the room was small!
