Pleasantly Surprised
This hotel was one of the specified conference hotels so it was chosen for ease of transportation, but I was very pleased with the accomodations. Beds were comfortable and I couldnt beat the package price offered through Expedia. The front desk and door service was helpful at all hours. Food at the main restaurant was good but pricey.

Wonderful, Wonderful Singapore Hotel
The only thing that kept this from being a perfect stay was coming down with the flu. But the restaurant manager jumped to the rescue with pots of spearmint tea with lemon and honey. The entire hotel staff was very attentive. The breakfast was very good. Two shortcomings were the out of control kids (parents let their kids run wild) and the lounge singers. They wouldnt have made it onto American Idol. We were glad when the jazz group took over the last night of our stay. Another shortcoming was the lack of gift shop in the hotel. The nearest place was a 5 minute walk away (air conditioned). And BTW, the water taxis in the hotel picture rarely showed up. Despite those minor defects, my wife and I would definitely return here.
Traveler's tip on dining
Forget about eating in the hotel. Chinatown with its street of food stalls (all state inspected; the Arab quarter restaurants from Lebanon to Morocco; the food from India, Thailand, Viet Nam, Malaysia, Korea, Paranakan. And dont pass up the Black Pepper or Chili Crab...Everything was absolutely incredible and very inexpensive - $US4 - 6 per dish!
