Great amenities, small price

Lots of goodies for the price -- cookies on check-in, free drinks in late afternoon, great hot breakfast with lots of choices, and a great work-out room, to overcome the calories. Nice, new property, staffed by friendly folks.

One of the best hotels in the area

The room was very clean. When we got there the air didn’t seem to be working. We left for a few hours and came back to find it working perfectly and couldn’t even tell they had been there. Great service and great staff.

Clean, quiet & comfortable

Good access to Interstate, simply furnished room, yet completely adequate for business travel. Plastic cups / glasses not a favorite.

Comfortable Place to Stay

We were visiting family and found this hotel on the internet. Very comfortable and friendly staff. Comfortable and clean rooms, swimming, computer access, breakfast, afternoon cookies and coffee, and happy hour - what more could you want.

Nice Hotel, Good Value

The hotel was very clean and the rooms were comfortable. The continental breakfast was also very good with a nice variety. My only suggestion would be that the hotel update the televisions in the rooms, as the TV reception was not good. Overall the Ames Country Inn Suites is a very nice, reasonably priced hotel that I would stay at again in the future.

This hotel was well-maintained, pretty & very clean, the staff was extra-friendly & helpful; little "extras"; the FREE breakfast buffet was offered MANY choices every day --we stayed 3 days, and were extremely impressed. We’ll be back! Nice heated pool and hot tub.

Okay Stay in Ames

This hotel was very clean and had good, up-to-date amenities and furnishings. The staff, for the most part, were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is slightly more than "continental" in that they also offered sausage gravy, biscuits, tater tots and some weird scrambled egg dish with some sort of meat in it - which was nice, but if you stay for more than one day, it will get boring fast. However, the housekeeping crew here is very anxious to get their work done. Don’t be surprised at a 9:00 AM knock on the door (sometimes rudely) if you don’t use your "don’t disturb" sign (I was raised to think that housekeeping comes by after check-out time most places and that if you are only staying until check-out time, the DND sign wasn’t necessary). We also had issues with being locked out of our room well before check-out time. We stayed here twice over the span of a week as a middle stopping-point on our holiday drive and both of these issues happened on both stays, even after telling the staff about them.

This hotel is near-enough to a university that many of the local restaurants deliver, which is really great after a long drive.

Very good accommodations and breakfast. Only negative...not very sound-proof..the footsteps of the guests staying on the floor above were amplified louder than one would expect.

Place to stay in Ames

Hotel staff was nice and service was great. Breakfast was very good, great selection and food was fresh and hot. Great access, right off highway. Plenty of parking. Pool and gym on site.

Great Service, Breakfast, etc... But the room?

This public areas at this location were clean and clearly well kept. The staff was very friendly upon arrival and departure. This is definitely a kid friendly place to stay! However - Upon arrival into our room... I found a lone (unburned) match on the top of the bedspread of one of the queen sized beds? And a dirty sock on the floor? It left an "unclean" feeling in the room. The TV (screen and the top) was quite dusty as well. Maybe I’m nit picking on the dust, but it’s hard not to when there were two blatantly obvious items left about the room.

Excellent Motel

The Country Inn and Suites in Ames, Iowa, has all the amenities to make for a pleasant stay. For stays of several days, the refrigerator and microwave are very useful, as is the workout room and pool. The complimentary breakfast is at least as good as you could get in a restaurant, and I found it to be of excellent quality and variety. I would recommend this motel to any traveler.

Can’t go Wrong

M sister and I stayed here with a 2 queen beds room. 4 pillows on each bed. Pillow top beds that were totally comfortable! Check in person was outstanding and check out just as smooth. Pool room was a bit hot, but it was 90 degrees out for the day and humidity of about 85 percent, so what could you expect. Pool was very enjoyable. Breakfast was so so. Not much selection for rolls but had biscuits and gravy and waffle maker for those wanting a hot breakfast.

Wonderful Room and Price

We came to Iowa for a banquet and found the hotel very clean and with great amenities. The breakfast had a great deal of variety and something for everyone. My mother’s diabetic and found foods that she could enjoy as well. When coming back to Ames, Country Inn Suites will be the first place I will look to stay.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Stay during the week. During the week they have a wine and beer reception in the evenings for about 1.5 to 2 hours. We came on a weekend, but it was nice to know that if we come during the week we can cool out at our own hotel and not have to leave to go somewhere else to relax.

A very pleasant stay

Large room, very comfortable, accommodating staff. The breakfast is quite nice... not just pastries but hot food as well (eggs, grits, potatoes). Convenient location.
