Fabulous Service!
The Hawkwell House was a perfect choice for our 25th anniversary trip, and our visit to see our daughter at Oxford University. A short walk from the bus stop into City Centre...and located in charming Iffley Village, we couldnt have picked a better place to stay. The service was impeccable, the rooms are beautiful and spacious, the breakfasts, included in the cost of the room, can be served in your room - and are a veritable feast. We felt pampered for the entire ten days of our stay, but didnt have to go into debt for it! The staff was incredibly helpful when we needed to make plans to make trips to London and Paris...helping us to arrange transport, and accommodating our every need. We will definitely return to the Hawkwell House...the staff couldnt have treated us with more gracious hospitality. And the view from our room was nothing less than sublime!
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you are going to Oxford, definitely do not rent a car...the fun is in the walking. You can always get cab - the drivers are fascinating people from all over the world - we had some of our best conversations with them! Everyone in Oxford walks...or bikes...or hops on a bus...there are many of them! And the people of Oxford are incredibly friendly...they will gladly help introduce you to this enchanting, charming town overflowing with history and education.

Really great! Wonderful staff and good food.
The room was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Any question they couldnt answer was dealt with by a quick Google search. We had only two complaints: shower water temperatures oscillated quickly between tepid and scalding; and the room was dark even with all lights on because all of the bulbs were tiny.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
You are in Oxford, so take full advantage of the whole place. Things you might not think of: the City of Oxford Museaum (superb!), and St. Marys church, Iffley (near hotel).
