Howard Johnson Inn - Las Vegas Strip

Best for the rate

Reading all the reviews I didn’t expect this hotel with this quality. Frontdesk and other staff were friendly. Room was clean and my girlfriend loved the swimming pool. Reasonable price for breakfast which was offered at the restaurant inside the lobby. I personally recommended this hotel to my friends going to Las Vegas on a budget, and I am sure where I am going to stay next time I go to Las Vegas

The hotle served it’s purpose, a bed and bathroom. It is located near Fremont Street and I had not been near downtown Vegas before.

Not Impressed

Good room rate for a place to stay one night which is what we did. Wouldn’t want to stay there if it were going to be a longer stay.

Bad Hotel

The Hotel staff was less than helpful when I asked if I could check in early. The room had a funky smell to it and the outside door was left unlocked so anyone could enter. The tv was hard to hear due to blown speakers and half the channels were fuzy. The sheets didn’t feel clean and the work staff were sleeping in the common areas at check in time. I would not stay at this hotel and would NEVER suggest this hotel to anyone!

Super location, good roomrates, they even have a weeding chapel ;-) Good for travellers on a budge.

Will not go back!

This hotel stated that the rooms had Micro waves, refrig, and coffee pot. It had a hot pot and that was it, nothing more. It also was not very clean, but we paid for it, so we stayed, but will not return.

Horrible!!

Did not feel safe here. So run down, it is not anywhere near worth the price. They lock the outside door between 10pm and 9am so you cannot access your room from the parking lot during those hours. Had to walk all the way around the building to the front check out to get into room at night, and this is in a not so good area!. Non smoking room still smelled like smoke and roach spray. It was sooo bad!!! Just like a cheap, grungy motel. DONT GO!

Old but nice

This was an older hotel on the far side of the strip but it was clean and comfortable. It looks like they were updating the hotel.

Its a ok place to stay

This is ok if you are planning a trip to Las Vegas. Most of the time you will be out of your room anyways. But the people were nice and the rooms were clean. I’d reccommend it.

I expected more from Howard Johnsons. I thought we would be getting a decent room for the amount we paid but live and learn

lights out

The first thing that i noticed when i entered the room was that approximately half (3/6) lights did not work. I must admit thought that the hotel replaced the bulbs quite quickly, but it is hard for me to imagine that it took a guests complaint to notice this. The room was poorly furnished with a dirty looking phone and to my dismay no clock! I don’t think i had ever seen a motel without a clock before my stay here. The TV barely worked, there was a poor selection and every channel was fuzzy, and the audio was drastically different from channel to channel. to top this all off it was in a really bad neighborhood. I barely felt comfortable leaving my room, which you might think of all of Las Vegas but the strip is actually quite nice and i did not feel threatened there at all. All in all i would not recommend this place for any one. i would pay the extra to stay at one of the casinos on the strip. I had a great time though. If you decide to go to Vegas hopefully you do to.

Air Conditioning Error

The AC would not stay on for more than 15 minutes which meant I was sweating profusely every morning and every time I walked in the room there was this hot muggy sensation waiting for me. Plus it was very run down and the TV was tiny and didn’t carry ESPN.

Great value hotel for young couples

Not a place for families as you’re quite away north on the strip (you actually hit a fork in the road where there’s a sign that says "Welcome to Fabulous Downtown Las Vegas" a block before the hotel). Not within walking distance to really anything (Sahara and Stratosphere can be done, but I wouldn’t). Taxi’s don’t regularly hit the hotel, but the room was pretty clean, the place was cheap, the pool was nice and you get a balcony and pool chairs with your room. For someone looking to save money on a hotel, this is your place. The parking lot is situated in a way where I didn’t fear anyone breaking in (kinda hidden behind the hotel’s lobby). The service I thought was great (safe was locked when I got there and within 5 minutes they unlocked it). Housekeepers and staff seem overall pleasant, just not over the top. Taxi from the Hard Rock would cost you $25. If you drive though from somewhere else though, you can drive down the 15 to Flamingo Rd (2 exits down from Sahara), park in the Bally’s parking garage and you’re right there in the middle of everything...

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Staying here and not minding staying in a huge casino with lots of gambling losses.

I do not recommend this hotel

I stay on this hotel for one day in April and it was the worst experience that I have ever had in my life. This room had 2 beds. 2 of my friends were in one bed resting when suddenly a huge bug was between the sheets. It looked like a roach but didnt have wings. we were really scared and called the front desk. they sent the maintenance guy saying that it came from outside because we had the balcony doors open. That was it. We never got any credit at all. Please do not stay in this hotel its really nasty!!!!!!!!!
