Good alternate location for downtown ZRH

Only 2 stops on the S-Bahn (less than 10min)from the main train station in ZRH, the hotel is a good alternate if ZRH is busy, and has lots of shops and places to eat near the hotel. Also the No. 11 Tram takes you to ZRH (all the way to the lake) and it stops in front of the hotel .. which is just across the street from the Train station.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Go to the COOP, and grab a Brat and a Beer and sit in the plaza behind the hotel and have an enjoyable lunch while people watching.

Quality and convenience

A first class hotel with all the amenities and a very helpful staff. Conveniently located across from Oerlikon station, and only 5 minutes to the airport.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Very easy airport transportation

Very nice

WAe stayed over on our way out to the USA. Picked this hotel as a between city and Airport. It was quick and easy for both. Staff more than helpful. Rooms clean with plenty of room. We were on the 29th floor and the view is incredible. Would stay again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We enjoyed the area around the main train station and....the train station....just hang out at the train station and people watch for a laugh. A true rail hub for europe. While in Europe....take the trains. Awsome!

Excellent hotel

Everything we asked for was cheerily provided, most of which was included in the price of the room. There’s a Co-Op right across the street for low-cost shopping. The tram stops right across the street, the train station is right around the corner. It is an incredibly convenient place to stay. We had only 2 very small, rather unimportant complaints the whole stay: 1. A sliding frosted glass door led to the bathroom--no normal door--and there was a complete lack of circulation inside the bathroom. So there was no privacy and it was always hot. If this had bothered us enough I’m sure we could have requested a different room. But the room was so perfect otherwise, and we were so comfortable, that we instead decided to go into the hall whenever each other needed to use the bathroom. You might prefer to ask for a room without that kind of door. :) 2. The espresso machines are SO. LOUD! When our neighbour used his, I thought there was a raid! I popped out of bed, trying to figure out what the hell was making that noise. He used it 4 times, too (apparently trying all four of the coffees available!). It wasn’t until I later used it myself that I realized what it was. Seriously, GET QUIETER ESPRESSO MACHINES! It only happened the first morning and, because the hotel was so awesome, they gave us free earplugs just in case it happened again. :) These 2 are MINOR issues, and it was, all around, one of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had. It’ll be my first choice when returning to Zürich.

Reasonable price for a good quality hotel

Overall, I was pleased with all aspects of hotel. Room and bathroom were good size for European standards. Its next to public transportation and easy train trip to airport, train or tram to city center. Pool, jacuzzi, and small gym are clean and have what’s needed, with nice location on top floor. Concierge was helpful, fairly knowledgeable, but not as good as NYC. Housekeeping walked into room X2. Grocery next door, picked up yogurt and cereal cuz breakfast was outrageous price. Necessary Starbucks in lobby. (Coffee, tea in room). No problem if you don’t speak German or French.

Traveler's tip on dining

Great true Italian around the corner. Again, good prices and delicious meal.

Great Location, a little expensive

Nice pool on the top floor with a great view of the city, too short for lap swimming. I would not have stayed there if I hadn’t gotten a pretty good price through Expedia.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

There is an incredible swimming pool about a half mile from the hotel: 50 meter lap pool and a separate diving well with diving boards and platform towers open to the public. Price: 6 Swissfrancs.

Godd Budget Hotel for Zurich

Very affordable for Zurich and right across from the train stop if you don’t have a car. Very good service, clean and efficient room. One downside - the central air system could not be adjusted and we found the rooom rather stuffy for sleeping.

Very nice hotel; good value.

The free breakfast (if you take that option) is wonderful. Plus, the hotel is literally directly across the street from the Oerlikon train station -- very convenient! Very nice all around.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Definitely rely on the trains in Switzerland. They’re frequent, clean and convenient -- but you might need a lesson on how to buy train tickets at the automated machines (similar to ATMs).

OK but not as good as I thought.

Having stayed several times at the Swissotel in Lima, Peru, an excellent hotel with large, well appointed rooms I was expecting the same in Zurich. Room was quite smaller and less luxury than its counterpart in South America, though overall it was a good stay.

Excellent Hotel

We loved this hotel. It is right across from a train stop that takes you right to the central station in 5 minutes or so. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. One of the best welcomes we have received at a hotel. Our room was clean, roomy, and comfortable. The glass bathroom wall takes some getting used to but we loved it very modern. Would highly recommend this hotel. No need to stay in the center of town and pay more when you can stay here.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is a Coop grocery store right next door for an inexpensive option for buying food for dinner. If you are planning to travel around get the Swiss rail pass as it will save you a lot of money. We were able to visit 15 cities/towns in Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, and Germany within an eight day trip. Had a blast traveling around.

Hotel was nice, but not great

Upon arrival, I had asked for 2 twin beds on a high floor, and we received a full bed on a high floor. Had to pay extra each night to be on almost the ground floor for two twin beds. Had to have the maintainence person come fix the tv, internet, and blow dryer. Hotel IS in a nice location right by local transport, so it was nice that way.

Excellent staff, great breakfast!

The hotel staff were excellent. The breakfast was expansive and the staff extreamly nice. The work out area was relatively well equiped and had a great view of the city. Wireless internet was most appreciated. Room was a good size for Europe, but missed the ability to control the temp. It got a bit warm as they had central heat, but they did bring fans. I will probably stay there again on muy next trip to Zurich.

Swissotel

It’s a pretty decent 4 star hotel and value for money. Few small improvements can be done. The sitting in the room-with two different kinds of chairs is odd and not upto the standard. May be replaced by a two seater sofa. Improvements in breakfast buffet required with a higher selection for vegetarians and there is a need to do ’some change’ in menu. it shouldnt be a monotonous standard. we stayed 6 nights, and somewhat disappointed to the standard unchanged menu. Otherwise its a good place to stay

Nice hotel, but a little bit worn

Lovely hotel, but showing some signs of age. Not bad, though. Lovely pool with a view. Relatively expensive, but great the few times one can get a good deal.

Great place!

North American style room design with a spacious bathroom and shower curtain. I had a corner room with a great view. Staff was especially helpful with directions. Only complaint was that 35 euro per person for breakfast was more than a bit steep.

Definitely recommend!

Great place to stay for a short trip, both for business and leisure purposes. The train station is right in front of the hotel and it’s 4 minutes to the airport and ~7-8 minutes to the center of Zurich. Very friendly staff and comfortable rooms and great views of the city. It is especially beautiful when it snows.

quality, comfort, & convenience

2 negatives: There should be a big notice in rooms & lobby that the transfer from ZH to Oerikon stops running by 11:30 or something. It is not a 24/7 service. I was stuck at ZH & had to pay $30 for cab! 2nd negative was breakfast cost $40 US at the hotel! coffee was almost $6? very expensive. I would go to a market for food next time. Oh, I will throw in a 3rd negative...I wish the pool, sauna, etc were open longer. It closed early. After I returned from my excursions, I was diappointed that I couldn’t use the facilities to relax. The rest were positive. Very clean, comfortable accomodations. Very friendly, helpful staff. They all spoke English well. The pool, spa, & sauna were great to come back to from a long day of exploring the sites. The train station was at door step to the hotel so it could not have been any easier. Yes, I would go back.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

get a swiss rail pass & just hop around from town to town & explore the sites. Luzern, Lugano, Berne, Appenzell were worth seeing. Rapperswill was nice also. Schauffhausen’s was nice for a stroll esp. 6 AM... I would skip the Rhein Falls. Berne was impressiveDO NOT WASTE MONEY TO GO TO ANY MOUNTAIN TO SITE SEE IF THE WEATHER IS NOT CLEAR & SUNNY. You will see nothing.

A good choice

A great location to stay in Zurich. Close to the train system and airport, but away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Very comfortable with all the necessary amenities. All the staff were so nice in helping us with questions, directions and checking us in as soon as possible after traveling all night. We would definitely stay there again if the opportunity presents.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Not successful in finding any in the neighborhood. Restaurants, yes; bars, no.

A Great Hotel Experience

Extremely good hospitality, excellent accommodations, phenomenal spa with a panoramic view on the 32nd floor, and a convenient location approximately midway between the airport and downtown make this hotel one of our best finds ever. Business center available for PC use downstairs. Starbucks in the building. Train and Tram service to Zurich and the airport are located right across the street. Be sure to buy a multi-day transportation pass, and you’ll get around effortlessly. We absolutely loved the place and look forward to going back soon.
