Mixed Review
The public spaces were attractive, but the room left much to be desired. The room faced a busy street, was noisy and needed refurbished. This was the worst (and most expensive) hotel we stayed in during a two-week vacation in Germany. We enjoyed the hot springs feed pool---we had it all to ourselves and the extensive breakfest buffet.

Plastic shabbiness.
I was hugely disappointed with the hotel. First of all, it is on the busiest road, and one must make sure to stay in a room with garden view, otherwise noise and pollution are unbearable. I was placed in a new wing, which was a totally faceless plastic room with shabby furniture, completely devoid of any character or charm. The hotel has an excellent warm water swimming pool, and that is the only plus. Otherwise, it is a cheap thrill. Staff varies greatly in friendliness. Supplies of teh room are very economical, no body lotion, etc. Definitely it is on a budget regime. However, it does perform all the functions one expects from the hotel. I found it not at all as luxurious as it is advertised, though. The concierge lady was the most helpful.
Traveler's tip
I would not come back to Baden-Baden, unless I am old and bored with sea and unpretentious places. People are provincially proud of their town, which is quite a fake, plus the atmosphere of a charming resort is long gone, as traffic is packed and buses are running on the streets incessantly. I was disappointed with Baden-Baden ridiculous snobbishness, although the opera was very good.
