Hotel Wallace
I have seen reviews denigratinbg this hotel. I stayed there for four nights and, while it is far from luxury accommodations, it is perfectly comfortable and acceptable for somebody who wants a fantastic location (10 minutes walk to the Champs de Mars, 100m to Avenue Emil Zola Metro station) at a moderate price. Yes, the carpet in my room didn’t look the best, and my electrical outlets didn’t work, but they were small issues. The people working there were unfailingly polite and helpful. The sole item of significance for me was that this hotel is very noisy, not from the street; just inside. The walls are paper thin, and every sound resonates. That’s the only reason I probably wouldn’t stay here again. If that doesn’t bother you, I’d suggest giving Hotel Wallace a try.

Ok for a tight budget
This hotel was "OK". The room was so tiny I was reminded of a cruise ship room. We could barely turn around - same with the bathroom. There was no air conditioning and the nights were very warm. Our mini-bar wasn’t working (not cold) which we reported 3 times, but it never got fixed. The location was fairly good - about 10 minutes walk to the Eiffel Tower - most other things we had to take a cab. Breakfast was good but cost extra, even for just the Continental type breakfast. Probably wouldn’t stay there again.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
I highly recommend the travel tour agency Paris Vision through Expedia.com. We took 2 tours through them - one to Verseilles Palace and the other was the dinner at Eiffel Tower/Seine Cruise/Moulin Rouge show. Fantastic tour guides, good transportation and well worth the money.
