Could be better
If you can avoid the stink at the reception and the cold coffee (the free cookies are a bargain) - the place is fairly decent. And yes you need a car to get along. Did try the bus / train public transport before finally renting a car. Decent rooms and a good place to get a nights rest. Aah - the attached IH Pancake restaurant is a blessing too.
The weekly metro ticket is a money saver with unlimited rides in trains and buses. The buses give you a good flavor of the city if have the time to travel. Drop in to one of the numerous pizzerias to get a value for money meal.

Howard Johnson Clifton
Decent enough hotel I would recommend if youre looking for somewhere good enough and cheap to stay for an event or whatnot. We stayed there one nite for attending the New Jersey Death Fest...at a place called Dingbatz...this was the closest hotel to the venue...and definitely the cheapest out of any surrounding hotel...I wouldnt say the place was the cleanest or most luxorious but it was fine for what we needed...nothing to complain about. But on the other hand I wouldnt say this is really a place to bring your gf/wife on your anniversary.....oh and the room did have a microwave and fridge which was cool...
If you drive a big lifted truck and go here expect to be amused/annoyed or whatever because I guess North Jersey just never sees anything like it .....and literally EVERYONE just stares and walks up taking pictures and pictures of them with it.....kinda funny....like Im from more South Jersey and its not common to have that kind of response with SO MANY people because theyre used to it...
