Dirty, Dirty, Dirty.
We were very disappointed in the accomodations, although the location, for Marseilles, wasnt bad, the room was falling apart and so filthy we could barely stand it. If it was not already paid for, we would have left early.

Good
Very functional but clean, handy for the station and Old Port.

It should be called Hotel Sarcophagus
The room was T I N Y ! The floor space was so small that only my wife or I could stand in the room at a given time. The bed was a twin bed for two people and I couldnt even fit my 14.1 inch laptop in the space between the mattress edge and the wall. There is no AC but central heat/cooling. This was a problem for us as they had already shifted to winter mode, it was a sweltering 80 degrees with the vent only spewing hot air The best part was when we realized there was only one bath towel in the room. When I went down to get another, the guy at the desk told me that they were out of bath towels so he generously handed me three hand towels. Hmm, I wonder if he would have just as generously handed me needle and thread to put them together ! The hotel does have free wi fi and a pc for guests use. The wifi however can only be reached in the lobby and there are no usable power points in the lobby. So if your laptops like mine whose battery start coughing soon then you ll be lucky to get any network time. Back in the room, there were no free power points, so to plug in my laptop, I had to shut off the tv or the lamp. In terms of overall cleanliness, the hotels fine,I guess. I woke up in the middle of the night to see a few small black roaches scurrying away but thats not so bad. The walls however, were thinner than cardboard. You could hear everything (and I mean everything !) Overall, I would never stay in this place again.
Traveler's tip
Safety tip: Try to avoid places in the night around railway stations especially ones as large and ominuous as the Gare du St Lazare. It might cost a few bucks more but staying near the tourist spots sounds like a better idea especially given the additional security presence there.
