Spa Getaway
It was a wonderful break from my business meetings with a top-rate facial and swim in the infinity pool, followed by a workout in their gym the following morning. The hotel grounds and art collection are just lovely. In room dining was very expensive, but thats not unusual. Very convenient to the main shopping streets of Dublin. Also, lovely toiletries and a huge bath.

Flawless!
Our stay at the Merrion Hotel in Dublin was fabulous. Every one of the employees was gracious and helpful--to the maximum. The rooms were extremely clean and the maid service was beyond anything that I have ever experienced. It was like having a personal maid. Also, the room service was consistently quick. We ordered room service on most of the days there, and it arrived perfectly and very timely. We have stayed at many hotels in many countries, and by FAR, the Merrion rises to the top. The weather was a bit cold and rainy, but the Merrion was perfect. It came recommended to us by two discriminating traveling friends, and they were right on the money when they said "you HAVE to stay at the Merrion."
For most travelers, it probably is best to go to Ireland in the summer. Though we didnt mind the rainy cold weather, most people wouldnt want to travel and see a country under inclement conditions. Its such a beautiful country, and it probably would best be seen if it was a bit warmer and sunny.

really nice
The hotel was terrific. fire places a little smoky. Service in bar (I had a light dinner there) was extraordinary.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Theres lots of restaurants near the hotel. The hotel food is good but expensive, so its nice to try alternatives.

Merrion Hotel Stay
Well located in center of town, easy to walk to several venues for food, entertainment and activities. A bus stop is directly down the street for a tour of downtown Dublins attractions.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Right across from national gallery and museum.

Expensive but worth the price
This hotel was everything you could want in a hotel. It was clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was very comfortable. We ate at the hotel multiple times, it was slightly overpriced but the food was good.

Sit and have a drink by the fire in the drawing room.

Unaccustomed to such luxury and gracious service!
Im a budget traveler. Ive been known to lower my standards to the scary one-star level on a name-your-own-price website. But this trip was special, my 76-year-old mother-in-laws first and possibly only trip to her grandparents homeland, and I wanted her to arrive in style. After a grueling red-eye flight we were greeted warmly at the Merrion and quickly checked-in to our rooms despite our 9 a.m. arrival. In our sleep-deprived stupor we admired the formal sitting rooms peopled with suits deep in conversation, leaning earnestly toward each other, whom we later learned were government workers having meetings over tea (the Merrion sits across government offices that are also housed in beautiful Georgian buildings). Wood and peat were burning in the fireplaces, perfuming the halls with sweet smoke. Formal gardens beckoned us to explore and sit awhile. We enjoyed the cushiest crash-pad any exhausted traveler could hope for, swam in their beautiful, blue-tiled pool and breathed out over-dry airplane air in the spas eucalyptus-scented steam room. The concierge even arranged for a student-friend at Trinity to take us around campus when he heard we were looking for a student-led Dublin tour. I havent experienced such above-and-beyond service at any of the hotels Ive been staying at lately! Well worth the price for a fondly-remembered splurge in Dublin.

By all means, enjoy afternoon tea before the peat fires in the sitting rooms/lobby. Servers will pamper you and watching the fire will relax you into a deep feeling of well-being. Try Grannys Tea, an herbal blend of rhubarb and vanilla. Delicious!

Classical - yet simple - Georgian elegance!
This is one of the finest hotels Ive ever stayed at - and Ive stayed at many five star hotels throughout the continents. The hotel not only had superb rooms, but they had outstanding service and fine food.

Great way to spend pre-christmas!
The near proximity of all the sights in Dublin make this a great place to stay. We walked or took the bus to most places. The atmosphere in their dining room and bars was quite gentrified. Just imagine the harp music wafting in the air for high tea or a guiness. We would go back to-morrow.
Traveler's tip on dining
We usually went out for breakfast and lunch to local cafes or grocery stores.TheNationalgalleries have good eats. The restaurants in Dublin are fabulous. Our evening meals were 4 to 5 star with great service, food and wine.

First Class In Every Way
Every detail of the property and service was excellent. Wonderfully efficient, helpful, delightful staff. Understated and classy, elegance. Sleeping rooms are good size, big bathrooms, plenty of closet space. Public rooms are great, too.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Be sure to see the Wellington stairway in the hotel, along with art in main lobby staircase. Museum quality paintings throughout.

Good Value
The garden wing rooms do not have the glamor or old world charm of the main building, but they are spacious and comfortable and provide access to the lovely public spaces and central Dublin location.

Excellent Hotel
The Merrion was absolutely first class all the way. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent. In particular, the location was great--very close to museums, major shopping districts, St. Stephens Green and nice pubs. We plan to stay there again on our next trip to Dublin.

Beautiful and attentive
Great place and great service. Beautiful garden, historic buildings. Fantastic spa. Significant works of art. Lovely places to lounge with tea or a cocktail. Convenient location. For the price, it would have been nice to have a few extras thrown in (like in-room wireless or breakfast -- coffee in the common area, at least). All the extras were quite expensive.

Definitely worth it. The service was impeccable, comfort and location all excellent. I highly recommend this hotel. Food and internet service in the room expensive but that was to be expected, and food was always good quality.

Great Experience
We stayed at the Merrion for three nights. We arrived exhausted from our trans-Atlantic flight at 9 a.m. and were immediately given a room. The room was large and comfortable. Service was gracious and fast. Attire was a bit more formal in the common rooms than we are used to when traveling but it wasnt an issue for us. The location of the hotel couldnt have been better--we walked everywhere from there. My only objection to the hotel was the price which was definitely on the high end. However, I did feel it was worth it.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Someone had recommended a small cafe/restaurant next door for a much less expensive breakfast and we went there every day. Theres also a place around the corner where you can purchase drinks and snacks to keep in your room since the mini-bar and room service are really expensive.

One of the best
Ive stayed in hotels all over Europe, North America, and the Caribbean and this is one of the best. Very friendly staff, great service, and wonderful rooms. We arrived very early from the US (around 8) and they found a room for an early checkin. I was there 7 days and it was a wonderful place to come back to after a long day of sightseeing.

No way this is a 5 star hotel
Broken TV and street noise. If that is a 5 star hotel to you go ahead and book it. I wish you luck.
