Not impressed at all

Overall our stay at this hotel was a disaster. We arrived on Fri 23rd May at 5pm and we were told we could not check in as there was no electricity. We were told to have an early dinner and come back. We arrived back at 9pm and again were told the problem had not been resolved. We had to wait until 11pm when we finally demanded a room. We were given a room at 7th floor and had to walk up with our luggage as the lifts weren’t working. We were left in a dark room with no electricity and not a torch nor a candle. We lit the room with a mobile phone so we could find the beds. Next morning (Sat) electricity seemed to be restored. We went downstairs for breakfast at 10am (due to be served until 11am as it was a weekend) and there was nothing left. We asked for stocks to be replenished but were told there was no more. We went out for breakfast. Later that evening we came back to the hotel to watch the Eurovision Song Contest only to find a notice in the hotel saying there was no TV for the weekend due to a fault. So no light, no lifts, no breakfast, no TV. What on earth were we paying for? I complained to management on check-out saying it wasn’t good enough and was told they would talk to their head office re some compensation. I got a call later that day to say they would comp me with a voucher(by post)for a free night’s stay in a Mercure hotel. Months later I have received nothing. It left me very disappointed with my trip to Paris.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

A good way of getting about is the open-topped tour buses which allow you to hop-on and hop-off at all the major tourist attractions and museums. They are great if you’re not up to walking for hours every day and don’t underestimate the distance between attractions.

Great hotel--Great location

This is a modern well maintained hotel directly adjacent to the Gare de Lyon. It is accessible by two Metro lines and is surrounded by stores and restaurants of every variety. It’s location is ideal for getting in and out of Paris with an absolute minimum of hassle. It is not inexpensive, however. But it’s worth the cost because it gives you a high measure of control during your visit to a bustling city environment. I’d stay there again without question.

Hotel is in a great location but is tired and in need of some renovation.

Arriving or departing from Paris Gare De Lyon this is the location but don’t expect too much. Rooms are very tired and ventilation was not very good. Everything is servicable and the breakfast reasonable given Paris prices. OK for an overnight stay.
