Perfect for the Theater

Great place to stay. Located right next to Leicester Square where you can purchase up to half price theater tickets at TKTS the day of the show for just about anything. Walked from the hotel to each of the shows. Walked one block to Piccadilly Circus to see "The Thirty Nine Steps." Walked one block through China Town to see "Les Miserables." I would recommend upgrading to the King room. Enjoy

Traveler's tip on local attractions

TKTS is right across Leicester Square where you can buy up to half price theater tickets for anything available that day. Info online.

The price was right and the location helped make the decision.

The hotel has a superb location; close to theaters, restaurants and main tourist desires. The hotel is a "nice" 3d rate hotel. Our room had 1960s Chinese light bulbs--25 watts. The bathroom was not bright--I had trouble shaving. The breakfast was overpriced. Otherwise, it was OK. The room rate at the time I ordered it was reasonable for London.

Traveler's tip on dining

London restaurants are about double the price in America. The tap water is fine(no need to order bottle water). A small restaurant chain called Tiger-Tiger is excellent. One is located on Haymarket Street, half block north of the Haymarket Theater.

Budget hotel in a good location not very clean

Stay at this hotel if you’re looking for a good rate in a convenient location. Our room reeked of cigarette. Given that indoor smoking has been banned in London for quite some time that gave me a clue as to how long it had been since the room was properly cleaned. Then when we found a used band-aid stuck to the inside of the duvet, that confirmed even the sheets hadn’t been cleaned between guests. I guess when you find a bargain in London, you shouldn’t expect too much. I have found cheaper hotels that are cleaner though.

Average Budget Hotel in a Great Location

This hotel is so no-frills that our room was stocked with pencils instead of pens. And the shower was pretty bizarre-- lots of knobs and levers...I never quite figured out how to regulate the temperature. That said, the discounted rates were very good for the location (steps from Leicester Sq,) the room was serviceable and the desk staff was polite. They have a bar/club in the basement, but it didn’t seem too appealing, considering all the great nightlife within walking distance. The only problems we had were that it was very difficult to get a phone call through to the reception desk, and that we found it impossible to use a calling card on the phone in our room. All in all, I’d recommend it (at its discount rate, not its rack rate) to budget tourists who just want a convenient place to sleep and shower.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Use a phone card, bought at any convenience store, to make all your international or long distance phone calls. Otherwise, you will spend a fortune on phoning home!

So-so

My wife and I stayed here for 4 days, on our holiday. Pluses: great location with respect to all the going-ons in Trafalgar Square, Regent St, etc. Minuses: condition of the hotel is a bit old, could use some refurbishing. The room we were given was a smoking room (even though we requested non-smoking) but a quick call to the front desk got us what we wanted. Our new room was a bit bigger and brighter too so that was lucky for us.

Great location

I chose the hotel for it’s location and convenience as I could take the tube from Heathrow on Picadilly Line. The staff were polite, as they all are in the UK, and when I asked for a "quiet room" the receptionist upgraded me to a better room, higher and that was very nice. I would definitely stay there again if I go back to London.

Recommend with issues

The Hotel rates an overall high satisfaction rating per the questions asked. However, one major negative for me is the fact that it is in a very noisy area until late into the night. My room overlooked Coventry Street and on Fri & Sat nights I was kept awake until just after 3:00am when the crowds left the area. It may be possible to ask for quiet room where the outside sounds do not filter in and disturb.
