The hotel was great, the service was great, and the room was amazing especially take the one with the sauna which is great after a long walk around Berlin.

grat hotel for reasonable price

This is a beautiful well located 5 star hotel in the middle of Berlin. It is in a quiet area and the facilities were excellent. The room and bath area were spacious, clean and comfortable. The service at the front desk was top notch. It was the best hotel we stayed at on our vacation in multiple cities throughout Europe. The bus public transportation is less than 100 meters from the front lobby.

We found this 5 star hotel and all others we stayed at online using the Expedia search. I can not praise Expedia enough for locating great hotels throughout Europe at great prices. Take your time and you will find 4 and 5 star hotel deals in every city. Buy a daily public transportation ticket and travel all over the city.

Top notch hotel

We had an excellent experience at the Grand Hotel Esplanade in Berlin! When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly and professional staff. We were immediately relieved of our suitcases and shown to a very tasteful and very clean and modern room, modern meaning flat screen TV, up-to-date crisp bed linens, new looking furniture and room decor. The bathroom was also nice and very clean, so I didn’t feel the need to reclean everything before using it like in other hotels! The hotel also provided terry slippers and robes. We enjoyed using the pool and the gym, which were also quiet, very clean and provided a great atmosphere for relaxing or working out. The outside dining area was also great. I noticed that local business men would come to this hotel for lunch, so this hotel definately isn’t a tourist trap. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Berlin Zoo and a bit further to the other sights like the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag Building. The hotel provided a very useful city map when we arrived, so it wasn’t a problem finding anything outside of the hotel. I would definately stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Berlin.

A nice place to stay

The Esplanade is conveniently located in a nice neighborhood south of the Tiergarten. My wife, daughter and I were able to walk to several key locations plus the local S-Bahn station is a short walk as well, Nice restaurants in the area as well, some were relatively reasonable. we would consider using the Esplanade if we return to Berlin.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There is a nice little Croisanterie about 3 blocks to the west for breakfast. Great Ruhreirer mit shincken. Coffee is excellent as well.

Never again!

This hotel came highly recommended and we were very disappointed. The AC was not working during a 85 degree heat wave in May. We called multiple times during the night, and a fan was finally brought up. They promised to fix the issue the next day while we were out. When we came back, nothing had been done and they had no idea what we were talking about. A football team was staying there too and therefore we were a low priority. After another sleepless, sweaty night, we checked out. A clerk told us the next morning that the AC was out in the whole hotel, although the story up to this point was that we were the only ones with a problem. I felt that the service was nowhere near what was promised, and I will never stay there again. Save your money and go elsewhere -- this hotel was out of the way, so stay closer to either East Berlin or downtown Central Berlin.
