nice hotel with a few drawbacks
this hotel is quite large but still relaxing. nightly entertainment consists of karoake, dance shows etc. the pool is nice, the bar stays open pretty late - of course it’s standard resort 3% alcohol beers - but that’s probably for the best. there’s a few real bars down the street. the food selection is great. it’s buffet style for every meal with a good amount of time for each meal (i.e. breakfast doesn’t end at 8pm). probably the best feature of the hotel. there are a few drawbacks but they shouldn’t ruin your trip. 1. the resort is also a time share and they will try to get you to sit through a sales pitch but it’s not high pressure. we just told them no thanks and no one bothered us for the rest of the trip - total time wasted about 15 minutes. 2. the beach at the hotel is not that nice and not really suitable for swimming - but a 10 minute shuttle will take you to the main beach and for a few bucks you get two beach chairs and sometimes a ’waiter’ - young kid who will get you drinks for a tip. 3. people on the beach will try to sell you necklaces, hair braiding (really bad idea unless you like a massive sunburn on your head), cigars (they are all fake), and day trips. most of these people are polite and will leave you alone with a ’no gracias’. i’ve been to places where you get harassed, the DR is not like that. 4. the beds are not that comfortable 5. and i can’t stress this one enough - bring your own pillows, the one’s there are unfit to be pillows.

there is also a great restaurant right next to the hotel where you can reserve a fresh lobster for the next evening. if you want some good cigars go to the supermarket - janet’s supermarket is the cheapest but a bit of a walk. i recommend vegareal.

won’t go back
I booked a 10 days trip to Paraisol Del Sol hotel because the beautiful picture they have in the website. I did not check any review for this hotel. One thing I can say " I learned my lesson". First the hotel needs a lot of repairs. The room they gave me was horrible. It was suposed to be a garden view, but instead it was a swam view. There were a lot of mosquitos in the hotel. I can say that I was eaten up alive by the mosquitos at this hotel. The room’s furnitures were so old that they looked like they pick them from the garbage. In the bathroom, the shower was leaking all the time. When I complaint about the room, they did not give me another room. I tried to go to another hotel, but they were 100% booked for the weekend. I have to stay over the weekend. The hotel food was too salty and I got sick. I was so misserable. When Monday arrived, I checked out and went to another hotel where I spent the remaining of the trip.
