Not really impressed
It is a reasonable hotel, but could be better if they had air conditioning in the rooms. Theu also dont have safe deposit box in the rooms.

Small nice hotel to stay
Hotel is pretty near of everything: Central square, Chocolate Museum, restaurants and so on. Rather quiet place to stay in Bruges, underground parking is 100m away from the hotel entrance. Nice breakfast usually included to the rate.
Traveler's tip on shopping
Nice morning market at the Central square. Choco museum is must to see.

Deferred Maintenance
We had a wonderful stay at the Hans Memling, mostly because the staff were so sweet and accommodating. That said, we ended up staying in three different rooms for our four-night stay. Our first room was so tiny there wasnt room for the two of us AND our suitcases. They moved us to a much roomier room the following morning, which was wonderful until the toilet seat broke. It was the weekend, so there was no hope of having it fixed before Monday (?) (Meanwhile, a friend of ours checked in and found his phone had been yanked from the wall. No hope of fixing that before Monday, either...) When we came in after dinner Monday evening, we were told that the phone and toilet seat had been fixed. Yet when we got to our room, the toilet seat hadnt been touched. They moved us to yet another room. Since our friend was expecting a wake-up call the following morning, we decided wed better call him to make sure his phone had really been fixed. When I picked up the receiver to call him, the phone fell apart in my hand. Inevitable comparisons to "Fawlty Towers" ensued. We were glad to be leaving the following morning, before anything else could go wrong. Also, everything people say about the noisy bar across the street is true. Bring earplugs. Still, I would recommend the Hans Memling for its location and great staff.
