Fun Small Hotel
First of all, if you want to complain about this hotel, you can find a reason. However, for what I wanted the hotel/price/location was perfect. It served as an excellent crash pad during a couple days of fast-paced sightseeing. The room was smaller than many other European hotels Ive seen, but the bed was comfortable and I slept well after all that walking. Be aware that "large" guests may find it difficult or impossible to navigate the bathroom which was about 3x5 feet. The elevator only fits 2 people with luggage. The immediate area is filled with hair salons, bars, and wig shops -- quite a sight on Saturday night when they are PACKED. The room was made up daily, and its easy to find breakfast cheap on the street. Turn left when you leave the hotel and go to the bar located 50 feet down the sidewalk. The bartender is really cool, the Stella Artois is cheap, and the music and crowd were perfect.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The not-included-in-expedia-booking-fee was 4 euros for a 2 night stay. Youll pay that at checkout. Skip the hotel breakfast and eat on the street or in a cafe. The subway is the way to get around -- you will be a pro at using it in 5 minutes even if you speak no French. Avoid the food vendors near the tourist attractions and hit the small grocery stores instead. Also, go see Pere Lachaise cemetery -- not too many tourists and quite interesting.

Convenient location, the street it is on is not very appealing
The hotel staff is very friendly and communicate well in English. The room and bathroom are small but OK for a single person. I was there for a week during mid June and the room was uncomfortably warm some days due the lack of air conditioning. The metro and 2 train stations (Gare du Nord and Gare dEst) are within walking distance. There are several very good restaurants close by. If you like to walk, you will be able to get to many of the sights without taking public transportation.
