A clean place to sleep - get a room above the noise.
This was our first trip to Paris. The hotel was good from the perspective that it was affordable and relatively convenient. On the other hand, the only memorable aspects of the hotel itself were its inconveniences rather than the reverse. Dont get me wrong - it was not a flea bag or run down. It was just nothing to remember. Aside from reading other reviews on trip adviser, we were looking for two additional elements - a safe in the room and free wireless internet. Both were touted - and neither was delivered. The safe was broken and useless and the wireless internet was neither free nor adequate. What the room was - was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was clean, small, with no room for a suitcase to be left open, noisy from water running in the shower upstairs at 4:30 am, an elevator that is only usable with no luggage, and a bathroom where you hit your head on the towel rack using the toilet and you spray water everywhere taking a shower. The street noise on the second floor was a pain from the garbage trucks running back and forth. The location was just fine - a few blocks from the metro, walking distance to The Eiffel Tower and Museum de Armee/Invalides. Napoleons Tomb. The little surrounding neighborhood was cute, quiet and convenient and the location was convenient on the metro system. I do not regret my stay there and yet I would certainly look to try another hotel before returning. Bon Voyage. (Not for the disabled - steps in the entry.
Do your home work - learn how to use the metro and how to read the metro route map. Also learn how to use the bus system included in the metro pass (that was tougher.) With that in hand and any vintage guide book - the hotel staff is not needed for directions and that changes the whole formula on how to read these hotel reviews when choosing a hotel. The staff had no recommendation of any value on restaurants and after the first day I had the route map down pat and never looked back. As we approached Paris - we had 3 major questions - which metro pass, where to get the museum pass and where to eat. We bought the larger zone Metro pass at the airport to allow trips to and from CDG or Orly and also to Versailles. The RER/metro trip from Orly to the hotel nearly killed me - as we had two large suitcases and the walk between trains requires up and down staircase after staircase. We took the shuttle from the hotel back to CDG to avoid the experience on the way out. They arranged for the shuttle at the hotel desk. The Museum pass is a must. NEVER wait in line at a museum - if you are - you are in the wrong line. We bought ours at ST, Chappell as they were sold out at the airport. I am told that you should always look for an unpopular museum at which to buy it -therefore no line. As to restaurants - we learned nothing in advance and nothing while we were there. As I said to my wife - if we walked down the street in Manhattan - what would be the odds of finding world class food - just by thinking a place is cute from the outside. NIL. The food we experienced was fair/average to poor. The service uniformly in Paris is inattentive. Do yourself a favor and use the ZAGAT guide or get guidance in advance - playing it by ear in Pairs on food is wasting an opportunity.

Simple, tiny room, but great location
The room was very very small but the staff was friendly, the bathroom had new fixtures (nice), and the value for the cost was decent. I would recommend this hotel for single travelers looking for a decent hotel at a good location for a decent price. Probably not the best romatic getaway though -- if youre looking for that, pay a little more and get what you pay for.
