i stayed at another hotel reding in university area, 3 star but felt like 4 or 5 star, i would rate the rafael as 2 or 3 stars

Hotel near the beach and public transportation. Great hotel.
I would recommend this hotel. It is clean the rooms are nice and it is convenient to public transporation and very near the beach - you can walk to the beach.

Nice small hotel in a good neighborhood
Although the lobby was not too impressive, we were very pleased with the personnel, room and the food. (Be SURE to order the Iberian Ham - 17 euros seems like a lot, but they give you a dinner plate full!) Friendly little bar with great sangria , wines, etc. Just a block from the beach, too.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
This hotel is much lest costly than most in-town Barcelona hotels!
