unhappy traveler
My husband and I arrived at the Hotel after a very hard day of driving and was checked into a room that was under re-constructive work. The beds and inter-springs were standing in the middle of the room. This room should never have been available for anyone to spend the night.

Great Yosemite hotel
We traveled in mid-November, so there werent too many other guests and we were able, at the last minute, to get a wonderful river-view room. The room not only had a view of the Merced River, but was practically right on top of it! We loved being able to sit on our small, second-story balcony and listen to the river, and watch the light as it played off the trees and granite of the river canyon. The food at the hotel restaurant was very substandard, but they have a nicely stocked store and we had a microwave and 2-burner stove in our room, so the second night we just cooked in. We would go back in a MINUTE - the park entrance is just 2 minutes from the hotel, and so its a great location to explore Yosemite from.

Great spot for a vacation
The rooms were really quiet in spite of the place seeming full. I enjoyed the fireplace, extremely large jacuzzi tub and the balcony looking over the river. I did not eat at the resturaunt as I read the reviews and didnt realize that there is a pizza place and a more "upscale" dining area. The market in El Portal had a fine selection of food and beverage at reasonable prices so that was the option I chose. It was nice to get up and drive right into Yosemite from there. The only thing I would have liked would be in room wireless as there is poor reception in that area and the on-line process to sign up for the wireless in the lobby took forever.
When you are in Yosemite, stop at the store in the village for snacks. Great selection of goodies and souveniers.
