Hotel comes first, guests last
Tried checking in at 3PM. In spite of bell, staff waited, joking around in office less than 10 feet from counter for a few minutes. Was rudely told there was no room ready yet and check in was at 4PM! Spa, gallery, and other nearby businesses were all closed at 3PM. Checked in after 9PM after late dinner. Parking lot and hotel nearly empty. We got nearly worst room in hotel. This hotel is on a jetty out in Bellingham bay, and we get the view of the parking lot but completely obscured by three oversize flagpoles. During the stormy night the flags, ropes, and associated metal fittings constantly slapped and banged against the poles waking us up and not allowing us to leave the window open. A train also rolled through waking us up. Tried bubbles in spa tub. So noisy you couldn’t carry on conversation. Sounded like jet aircraft trying to take off. No breakfast mentioned in room info binder. In room coffee was nasty. Complained about noise when checking out and was asked if I wanted to fill out a comment card. No discount. Full price. Thank you very much. I would go back just for the view because the room was really very nice but will only get a full view of the bay. Beware of the flag poles.
