Will Not Return

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in August of 2009. The air conditioning did not work properly, we could barely tell it was on. In addition, I specifically booked a room overlooking the lagoon, but received a room that overlooked the street (the lagoon was visible from the bathroom window). I advised the front desk of these problems, but nothing was done. I also requested a brief tour of venice approximately one month before departing and was assured this could be arranged. Upon arriving, I was suddenly told it would now cost an additional 50 euros. I should have been told this much earlier, not on the day I arrived. It was essentially an attempt to overcharge me, just as the hotel overcharged me for my room (I did not get a room overlooking the lagoon). The customer service at the front desk was poor. For instance, you practically have to beg them to exchange money for you. Finally, the breakfast is mediocre, I had much better meals at other hotels in Italy. The only good things about this hotel are that (1) it is easy to find, (2) it has many television stations, including English-language t.v. (since I don’t care about t.v. when I am on vacation in another country, this means nothing to me, but it may be important to others, and (3) it is close to the beach. I hope to return to Venice, but I will not return to this hotel.

Best kept secret!!!

The Panarama Hotel is wonderful. It is located on Lido Beach, which is just a few minutes from St. Mark’s Square by boat (and worth the trip!) Our water taxi pulled up to the front of Hotel. There is a beautiful terrace that looks acroos the water to Venice proper. It is very romantic!! The hotel staff are warm and hospitable and very eager to give suggstions for sightseeing and dining...which we took and couldn’t have enjoyed our meal more!! The rooms were very nicely decorated and very comfortable. I will definetly return!!! Dorene

Traveler's tip on dining

Rosa’s is the perfect sterotypical Italian restaurant......and it is open air with beautiful vines everywhere. The food was fresh and good and inexpensive. It is just a 5 minute walk for the hotel.

Wonderful staff, great location

We really enjoyed our recent stay at Hotel Panorama. It was very convenient to be able to take the water shuttle from the airport and disembark basically right in front of the hotel. (The vaparetto stop is also right in front of the hotel and it’s only a short ride to all the Venice attractions). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a lovely terrace which is a great place to sit and watch the sunset. Our room was comfortable and spacious.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is a grocery store just a couple blocks from the hotel on the main street which is a good place to pick up snacks and a bottle of local wine.
