No Watersports

Watersports was closed for three days due to an inoperable rescue boat. Yes, that’s right, there was no use of any watersports activities at a Caribbean resort. Imagine that! The property has seen better days, and service is among the worst I have experienced anywhere. I’m afraid that those who like the resort really don’t do much traveling in the Caribbean. Believe me, you can do much, much better.

Traveler's tip

You can do quite a bit better elsewhere. It’s one thing to have tired facilities, but it’s another to have consistently lousy service.

When they say all inclusive, they MEAN IT!!!

This was our first trip to Jamaica, our first all-inclusive vacation, and our first au-natural experience. We were pleasantly surprised with how quickly we made it through customs, the warm greeting that we received in the Super Clubs lounge, the nice bus trip to our resort, and the fruity drinks that were awaiting our arrival at the Grand Lido Braco. Check in was easy and quick, and within 30 minutes of our arrival to the resort, we were in the pool at the swim up bar. It was lovely, to say the least. We got a few drinks in us, and worked up the courage to venture over to the au-natural side of the resort. (which was something that we had anticipated trying at some point, but certainly not that quickly) We got over there and were warmly greeted and accepted. We spent ALL of our pool/beach time on the nude side without any hesistation. The accomodations seemed to be nicer and better kept, the staff was friendly, and the people were outgoing and fun. We had a GREAT time!! The only down side that we found was that the beach was rocky which made the water uninviting. The piano bar was always a good time with sing a longs and karaoke. The Japanese restaurant was amazing and a super nice way to meet people. The Italian and French were good, but nothing that would draw us back. The buffet breakfasts and lunches and the Reggae Cafe were fantastic...and the Friday night street fair was overwhelming.

Traveler's tip on dining

Try to book the Japanese restaurant at the beginning of your trip, it will help you get aquainted with other couples at the resort. We scheduled our French, Japanese, and mani/pedi reservations over the phone before we arrived in Jamaica. Definitely made it easy to not have to worry about trying to squeeze them in anywhere!!

Too many changes coming in 11/09

We stayed at Grand Lido Braco for 7 days for our wedding. It was just ok because there were lots of hidden fees and the wedding planner was out so her fill in didn’t know what was in our package and botched a few things. The room, comfortable. The views, pretty. The beach, UNUSABLE as it is so rocky. The boat to go diving/snorkling was broken. Finally, this resort is changing to Breezes and they are changing lots. No more 24hr room service. No more complimentary mani/pedi, golfing or laundry service among other things. Try Sandals.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Forget booking through a resort person. Ask one of the staff to get you a driver. It is cheaper and a much more fun experience. $100 per 3hr excursion or $40 per person to hire a private driver for the whole day who really knows where to go!!!

Not Impressed

Air conditioner was dripping water throughout the day in the room. Serviceman came to fix the air conditioner around 11 PM to fix it. The complaint was given around 6 PM. It took 5 calls and 12 hours before the room service came to pick up clothes for laundry. Not satisfied with food quality except for the Japanese restaurant.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Dunn river falls is good. Make sure to take water shoes and swim wear.

A Week in Paradise

A trip to Grand Lido Braco in Jamaica was like a trip to paradise. From the moment you enter the resort, you adopt the "no problem, Mon" theory. Food, drink (both alcoholic & non), beautiful scenery and fantastic weather lend itself to your relaxation. With everything from scuba diving to people watching, there is something for everyone at Braco. Oh, be sure to get a massage under the trees on the beach!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

While in Jamaica, you should visit Dolphin Cove. You have the opportunity to visit and even swim with the dolphins. The staff is entertaining and informative. It’s truly a once in a life time experience!

very nice place. staff couldn’t be nicer

The resort was a little smaller than what I expected, but very nice. The service was wonderful but low key. Not the place to party. The food was good, but dinners were from a limited menu, but good. There were other restaurants, but you had to make reservations in advance. If you couldn’t make it for that time, it was difficult to make another reservation. There were 2 hot tubs on the non-natural (nudest) side. One was too hot, the other too cold. Activities were not announced, but were written on a board that we did not notice until day 3. The activities were not organized, nor were they interesting, so quite a few were cancelled. On Friday nights they have a big street festival of food. that was wonderful, but you need to plan your arrival/departure around it. Room service was prompt and very good. They will bring extra beer/rum if you request. Although, at times, they brought the beer in glasses, saying they were out of cans. They have a couple of shops on site. One shop says they are duty free. Very expensive. Don’t bother. Overall, however, this was a very nice, friendy, clean resort, and I would go back.

Traveler's tip on shopping

most stores except dollars, but your probably paying much more than a jamacan would pay.

Great Vacation

We were looking for a smaller hotel so we were not crowded but we were worried about what a small resort could offer. Great place with lots of options for entertainment and dining. Very satisfied with our choice. Very friendly staff that were happy we choice MBJ. Many of the guest were repeat customers and we will return as well. Beach front room was very nice.

Traveler's tip on dining

The food was very good but not great. Lot’s of choices and options to satisfy.

We had a wonderful time

We had a wonderful time at this resort and would certainly go back. Resort is fine condition, rooms are nice and most staff is terrific. Village set up with streets makes for a great vacation atmosphere. They do have a problem with dinner reservations as the two restaurants that require reservations were totally booked when we arrived for a 4 night stay. Concierge was useless and resort manager never responded to our complaint. Email reservations ahead of time are recommended. However, other guest tipped us that if you show up at the restaurants without a reservation and politely explain the situation, you will likely get seated. It worked and we had nice dinners at both the French and Japanese restaurants during our 4 night stay.

Traveler's tip on dining

For shorter stays, Email dinner reservations in advance as restaurants are booked full for at least three days in advance. Resort needs to correct this problem considering what you pay to stay there.

Will be returning this summer.

My husband and I just returned from a vacation in Jamaica, we stayed at The Grand Lido Braco in Falmouth, it was our first visit there and we had a wonderful time. The Hotel was very nice and clean and they had five restaurants and the food was all so delicious!!! We enjoyed it so much and the entire staff was so accomadating, they want to please everyone. The Beach was clean and so pretty. The Entertainment was also good. Its just a very nice resort that anyone would enjoy.

Traveler's tip on dining

The French Restaurant is a must and The Italian Restaurant that opens every day at 3:00 P.M., and has sidewalk tables serves some of the best pasta dishes we had ever had, it is so good.

Relaxing Anniversary

Resort was excellent with a beautiful view of the beach. Staff were very courteous and extremely helpful in coordinating activities. Food was decent except the Japanese restaurant was amazing. We experienced rain on a couple of days during afternoons but not in the evening. Transportation from the airport was well coordinated. Hotel was 30 min away but provided us an opportunity to see the country. We stayed 4 days, but we would recommend staying longer since there are many activities to experience. Jamaica is a wonderful country and we will be returning.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Remember to make reservations as soon as you arrive for dining and recreational activities.

A very nice stay, I will return

The rooms were very comfortable, kept clean, the room service, compared to the other resort we stayed, on this trip was great, no comparision. The resort itself is an older resort, the pool we frequented, was small compared to the other resort. They could use a few upgrades around the bars, Pina~Colada machines replaced, possible TV screens & a Good sound system would enhance. Would be nice also if they offered "Included" trips to town, for some shopping, etc. The food at the Reggae Cafe was great and the Lamb-Chops at the Beach Bar awesome, under the Pavillion good too. Not impressed with the French restaurant, felt like I was there to impress them, instead of us. Not impresssed with the Italian either. Didn’t get a chance to eat @ the Japanese restaurant. The resort made good effort to have something entertaining going on every night. The 1st night there, they had there aniversery Sreet Party, That was Awesome, great food and entertainment!!! A large percent of guests that I spoke with have been coming back to this resort every year, one guy almost for the last 30 years!!! That says alot about "Lido Braco", doesn’t it..

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you want cigars. better stop and get them on the way, very expensive at the resort.

Definitely Not 4* Service

We have been to many real 4* hotels before and this isn’t close to that mark despite paying more than other vacation resorts. The overall pace was expected to be a bit slower in Jamaica but the staff was mostly indifferent to requests. Slow check-in/ check-out, lack of available dining seating or spa time despite checking upon arrival, lack of seating chairs and small bathroom in room, no bathrobes, unfulfilled requests for mini-bar and coffee restocking contribute to our no chance of returning.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Should you still want to go, to make sure you can use the Japanese and French restaurants and spa then pre-book your dining and spa requests both within Expedia (why can’t you do this automatically?) as a "special request? I would also contact the hotel direct and confirm your requests.

One of the best Vacations I’ve Had

The Grand Lido Braco is a extremly pleasent and relaxing Resort. The staff is friendly and makes you feel at home. The food is great and is prepared to your liking. And the entertainment is always happening, day and night. The resort is well cared for and during the 8 days I was there there was daily cleaning, maintenece, and decorating for the various activities they have planed for their guests. The night life is exuberant to say the least. I am planing to return.

Traveler's tip on dining

You have to try the japanese restaurant and susi bar. It is a very pleasent atmosphere and the best I’ve had. A Must At Grand Lido.

Good value for the price

One of my only complaints about this place was the absolutely disgusting bathroom in our first room. It was so old and run down that we could not tell if it was even clean. The bathrooms are currently being renovated and we had to wait 2 days to switch to a room with a renovated bathroom. It was well worth it, however. I would not recommend staying in a non-renovated room. Otherwise, the food was good, the service was good and there was no tipping at all. It was nice not to have to worry about carrying a bunch of ones around all of the time. Food service was available 24 hrs a day and the Japanese restaurant was excellent. The entertainment was a bit lacking during our stay - for example, the water sports were not available as often as we expected - but it was almost better because we spent more time just relaxing in the pool and less time "on-the-go."

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

I would recommend the trip to Dunn’s River Falls, but skip the craft market shopping excursion. Take a set of nice clothes so you can get a reservation at the French restaurant.

Great place but....

The Nude side has a larger pool, and better amenities. Even if you stay over on the textile side (which is less expensive) make sure to go over to the Nude Side,if comfortable with that concept. More activiites, great people. this hotel really knows how to cater to the older nudist crowd. This was our third time. Food always Excellent.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Vendors are in the resort one day a week so if you do not want to venture out you can still shop locally.

Great place to relax and have fun

this hotel has a great place to get away and just relax. the food is excellent, if you like curry or jerk chicken/pork. all hotel staff are warm and friendly and i love the how the hotel decorates for their different theme party that is held every night. the hotel could use a little renovation especially in the bathrooms.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Good hotel

I liked the staff of the hotel and the services available, but I thought the rooms were rather old. The first room they placed us in smelled like smoke and after an afternoon in the poolmwe come back to have some staff in our room looking at the AC without us knowing. Then they moved us to a different room and the AC made loud noises (to the point we turned it off at night) and leaked water...Also, our second day there housekeeping did not come into ur room to make our bed even though we asked them 4 times to do it. The resort was great, the food fantastic and the staff wonderful, but the hotel itself was not impressive and no at all a 4 star hotel...

Traveler's tip on dining

Try the Japanese restaurant. it is fabulous. Also have lunch at Victoria market, which has great food.

Great place for couples to re-connect

Somehow, the weather always seemed beautiful here and the food was terrific. We visitied all the restaurants and loved Munasan (Japanese steak house). Room service was prompt and delicious (You can get room service delivered to the beach.) We started with an inexpensive room and it was fine but nothing special. We upgraded to a Jr Suite on the AN side because that is where we spent more of our time. The suites are really a lot nicer with balconies and 6-jet showers- but a lot of AN-ers stayed on the other side to save money. No one really spends much time in their room. Activities like golf and scuba diving were popular. The best part about this hotel is the guests. Many were on their fourth, fifth, twelfth, even 17th visit. The guests were all friendly and accepting. Pool volleyball was a blast - competitive, but no arguments. Just fun.

Traveler's tip

When locking up valuables, don’t forget to lock up your perscription drugs. We had some disappear. The resort was able to get them replaced in 2 hours, at a cost of $75. But a little foresight would have prevented a hassle.

Rooms were old

My husband and I both feel that the rooms need to be upgraded. It was kind of strange knowing the floors were dirty and we saw small ants. the volume on the tv was not working correctly. We tried to order a pillow from the pillow menu in the room and they said they were all of stock. The staff at the resort was extremely friendly.

Traveler's tip

As silly as it sounds, make sure you take a pen with you because you will need one to fill out your customs form and none of the stewardess’s had a pen and there wasn’t a pen to be found in the rooms.

Everything one owuld expect at a high end resort

This resort is everything one would expect at a high end all-inclusive resort. The grounds were perfect and the condition of the hotel was excellent. The food was very good and the staff was extremely pleasant. Overall, if you are looking for a relaxed, all-inlcusive vacation where you are treated great and everyone else seems frendly, go to Braco. As in most reviews, you can nit-pick any resort and find the worst in things. If you are going to have a good time and relax, let the little things go and enjoy everything else. The reort cannot control the weather, but they do try to have all of the activities inside when the weather is bad. Overall, this is a great resort and we had a ton of fun. This was a great vacation.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Try the nightly parties even if you are not a party-type person. We did and met some real interesting people. It made the trip that much more fun.

Great Service

We really enjoyed our stay. The food was good as well as the service. We really had a good time at the pool. The only diappointment was the beaches at the all natural side... wasnt much place to get in water..... however we did venture over to the other side where the beach was nice.
