Very Impressed - Great for relaxing or actioned-packed time!
A great hotel in great location for relaxing (for a honeymoon, as we did) or for an action packed vacation. Since it is next door to the Market and UNEXSO you can particapte in many activities from Park visit to Dolphin experience. The hotel is well maintained and run by friedly staff.
Early November is a great time to go--still warm and not peak season. Also, be warned that the planes (from mainland US) can run late frequently. The restaraunt at Taino Beach is great place to visit (tasty, good food and great setting, right by beach). Dont have the exact name but its the only restaraunt that can be visited with ferry pass (need to have round trip) from the Pelican Bay Resort (as of Nov 2009).

Location and Ambience: The place to be
Once again we were extremely happy with our stay, starting with Stanley and Tara at check in through our 4 day get away. Hotel is quiet, on a channel point, tucked in between UNEXSO and the water. European character with landscaping and layout that is intimate. Three minute stroll to all the amenities of Port Lucaya and the music and fun at Count Basie Square. Light breakfast included and served overlooking the water. Beach access is across the street but a 5 minute free ferry ride takes you hourly to an even more interesting and less populated beach. See Terrance or Jamar at the beach side cabana for optional water sports activities from Jet Ski’s to paddle boats, lunch at a restaurant on the sand. You can rent a car or get a Taxi to explore the island sites like Garden of the Groves and Bikini Bottoms, Land tours like Calabash Eco Adventures and others pick you up at the Hotel as part of the tour price, otherwise shopping, restaurants, music and bars are all within walking distance! Pelican Bay is always our first choice.
Dining adventures: Cafe lunch-time dining and upscale evening dinner in the gardens at the Botanical Garden of the Groves; also local Island fare and fun at Bikini Bottoms

Stateroom outstanding
Had a waterside stateroom and was very satisfied. View was incredible and loved the daily pastry delivery. Grounds kept very clean and the staff worked hard to see you were very satisfied. My wife loved the bacon cheeseburger at Sabor and the price was not bad. The complimentary continental breakfast and Sunday morning memossas were very nice. The food was good and healthy alternatives were available. I would definitely stay here again. Easy walking distance to the casino, shopping and the beach. I could not tell from the maps but this is not a beach front hotel but it is on the bay side so you have water right out your window but must go about 3 blocks to the beach. Water taxi will also take you to Taino beach at no charge (about 10 min boat ride).
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Taino beach offers a number of water activities and an incredible beach. Did the beach bonfire and it was ok, the drinks were kind of watery and the chicken bland but the folks worked hard at entertaining. Pelican bay is a first class facility and highly recommend. Oh yes, the taxi to the cruise port is $31 if you are not loaded like cattle into the usual van for $5/ea. That was a surprise.
