Schloss serenity
You cant beat the hotels location right on lake Fuschl, only 12 miles from Salzburg. At the end of Sept, with few tourists, sitting on the terrace and gazing at the lake and background mountains is serene and meditative. Our room (and I think all the rooms) were recently renovated so the feeling is less like a castle and more like a high end modern hotel. The deluxe room we had was much smaller than I expected, packed with furniture and a very comfortable bed. Lighting in the bathroom could have been better but was "all right". In todays modern design, windows seem to go between the bathroom and the rest of the room so theres a loss of privacy, although this designer was smart enough to put in a sliding panel to cover the window if you want. The spa is spacious, with nice setups for massages and resting areas. Staff is friendly and upbeat.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Ask for a room on the second floor to get a better view. Also, try dinner at the sister hotel (Jagdhof) which is cheaper and almost as good.

Best hotel ever been to
We were extremely satisfied with Hotel Schloss Fuschl and we think that its the best hotel we have been to so far. The location of the hotel is fantastic and the hotel itself is amazing. We also had great service and the restaurants served delicious and very fine food. We also loved the spa!

A very good hotel in Salzburg area
I was looking for a decent SPA hotel in Austria/Germany with some additional just-in-case options like mountain/cross-country skiing, sightseeing and just soaking in a bubble bath. Hotel Fuschl was a random pick but proved to be a perfect one. The hotel was renovated/rebuilt some 2-3 years ago so everything looked new and clean. The hotel has Michelin-starred restaurant and a decent selection of wines. Nothing to say about a breath-taking view on the Fuschl lake and mountains. A perfect place to relax.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Although, the hotel offers taxi, chauffeur / shuttle service to Salzburg/main attraction, I would recommend hiring a car. Dont come alone (unless you enjoy solitude and relaxation:-), theres nothing but a decent hotel in a nice surrounding. Youll need to go to Salzburg (nearest city) for nightlife etc. Ask concierge for restaurant tips. To my surprise we found very good food in a small village of St. Gilgen - just few kilometers away (check Panoramarestaurant Haus am Hang).
